Sunday being my only day off this week I had to get my miles in. So it's drizzling and I say,"That's what raingear is for." Miles accomplished, smiles justified. NUTS |

That's the difference between a motorcyclist and a biker. A biker would worry about how long it would take to clean it up again. |

Rain Gear? I used to get out of bed on the stormiest nights and go for a ride in a levi jacket and wool cap. I'd ride til my workboots were full, ride a bit more, then go back home and go back to bed. Talk about sleeping well... That was when I was twenty- something, though... |

Commuted to work 3 days this week in the rain on a bike. I do ride in the snow and sleet occasionally, just because. |

In the summer, I enjoy riding in the rain, particularly if it isn't pouring. I like the smell of steam comming off the road, and the way everything looks during a shower. |

I got caught in the rain in Estes Park, Colorado one July with no rain gear. Estes Park is the highest paved road in North America. I have never been so cold in my life. That water had to be just above freezing. I was grateful when I made it off the mountain. |

It rained every day for almost two weeks when I first got my Cyclone... so if I wanted to ride, I had to ride in the rain. |

rode for years rain or shine cause I had to, suits are soo much better now so its not a major problem. When I get caught out, I remember what Team said about his last ride, when it rains... (Message edited by oldog on May 07, 2006) |

I don't mind riding in the rain at all...Warm rain is better than cold rain. But down here, I've had to stop due the ferocity of the rain! I have never seen it rain so hard as it does in Georgia. One rain storm I got caught in during an overnight paddle in the Okefenokee swamp dumped 5 inches of rain in about an hour and a half. I prefer to avoid riding in that. |

Yes I have gone rain riding just to do it. Been out in blizzards (once over Loveland Pass). Rode at the 5,200 mark here in Socal all winter. |

Geez, Move up to upstate NY. Some years we have to ask, did you ever ride in the Sun? Rain riding is okay, when it covers a whole state, like say Ohio, Penn, Oklahoma..... then it sucks. |

I ride everyday, regardless of the weather, in fact, to thiseday I dont own any rain gear...I just wear what I got on, adn do what I gotta do, nothing fancy.. Hell, rode from Springfield, Ma m to Fall River, WITH the wife on the back, IN freezing rain/hail...last month I think...but, when we got to Fall River, it was snowing... why did we go out there? for haha's... |

Depends what you mean by "just to do it." If you meant "just to ride" then yes, ridden in the rain just to go riding many times. If it's not too cold and I have the right gear on I don't mind the rain, it's almost relaxing. However, if you meant "just to go ride in the rain" then heck no. I've ridden in the rain plenty of times, but I never seek it out as if it's a fun activity. |

Lots of different types of rain riding... Drizzly overcast days in the fall with colours and hues that go on FORever are the best. Good quality all-weather riding gear makes it more so.
Summer evenings in the country with the low sun poking through the rainclouds after a shower - the smell is intoxicating. |

Lornce that is a sweet looking Hammerhead. My first bike was a 1973 r75/5. I was probably the only 23 year old on a bike older than me! When I took my MSF course the instructors aide played a little game where she "guessed" which type of bike we rode based on our general appearance and undoubtedly age. Her "ninja" moniker for me didn't sit well so I proceeded to bash her newer beemer for not having the vintage quality of the older bikes. Oh well, I'm rambling and here it will end. NUTS |

Yep! I rode in the rain within my first 400 or so miles. What fun! It was summer in Louisiana, and it was hot, and the rain was so nice and cool. Since then, I ride no matter what the weather, (when I'm home.) Before I go to school next year, I think I'm going to burn two weeks of leave riding around the country, rain or shine... |

I wouldn't do it normally, but I had to get home one day last year and I rode through a storm in CT , when it was about 90 degrees outside, it was great , like riding through a warm shower! The only drawback was if a cage hit a depression in the road , it then felt like somebody throwing a bucket of warm water over you. |

...an added bonus. the L.E.O.'s usually just look out their windows, shake their heads and let you continue on your journey without having to pay the speed tax. |

I'm still getting used to it... Riding in the rain was something I always tried to avoid in the past... Now that I'm pretty much using my bike as a daily driver I have to get used to it.. I need to get myself a better rain suit.. I live in florida and as soon as it rains it's like some one turns on a Idiot switch... With all tons of traffic blue hairs morons it can get bad... |

Ridden in the rain, doesn't really bother me. Been out in the rain a few times. Now HAIL at 70mph with only a half bucket hurts. Been caught out in that twice. |

The year was 2000. The rainstorm? Hurricane Irene. 85 MPH winds. Hey, it was my day off. So I don my full leathers, and off on my 93 Low Rider I go. I didn't have the windshield, or I could have idled west to Shelby and Iras. Ride up, park the bike under the overhang ( hey, it's raining ) and proceed to make my way inside for a beer. First thing I get is "Stretch, WTF are you doing?" "Hey man, I'm just out getting some wind" Then I break down and tell them the real reason I am out in it. I just had to get an "I rode Irene" patch made. But alas, I had soon found other ways to amuse myself, and it was soon forgotten. On the ride home, the wind was so bad that the goggles I had kept filling up with water and I had to take a hand off the bars to pull them so they'd drain out. Not a fun thing to do in 80 MPH winds, I'll tell ya. And since I was riding directly into the wind, I was getting it full force. SO, I decided to do the smart thing, and tack my way back. And wouldn't you know it, I passed another bar. J&S, here I come. They were a little pissed because I was in full leathers which were completely soaked, and was leaving a puddle. Went next door to the convenience store and got a bandana for my face. Ride was much better after that. Only a few downed trees, and I took it slow. Was riding up the alley, when I looked over, and spotted my neighbors in the backyard, drinking beers. Can you believe those guys were out in a hurricane? Geez, I said to myself. So I pull up in the yard, and said, "Hey, I'll let ya ride my hog for a beer" He only took it around the block a couple of times. But hey, he didn't have leathers. And I had more than one beer. And that's the truth, and I have witnesses to prove it. The problem is getting them to testify. Stretch |

Well I came to work on the bike yesterday as the weather report looked good. No rain predicted until after sunset. Looked outside at 3pm and boy was it raining. Left work early and I do have to say it was kind of fun being the first ride in the rain for the season.

the smell of the rain is intoxicating -- out in the toulies, it's a great way to unwind -- one afternoon a coule of summers ago, I was diddybopping down a farm to market road in central Illinois (straight as a string for about 5 miles or so, then a 90* turn, straight for a 1/4 mile, then another 90* turn in the original directions -- follwos township lines or sumpin like that) anywho, one of those midwestern thunderstorms was pacing me, about 200 yards to the left -- just this wall of watter coming down, and nothing at all 190 yards out -- good fun! |

Oz666 & I rode the Dragon in the rain last year, interesting about sums it up, then we rode on in the rain well up into Kentucky before it dried out a bit, It was one of those weird wild long days where just about everything possible to happen did happen, brings a smile to my face every time I think of it. |

I've done it numerous times. The worst was when it started to hail on my way to Laconia last summer. |
