I'm powder coating my wheels black, and I'm trying to decided whether to leave the rim polished or coat all the way over. Anyone have pictures of either? |

Awesome. This is going to be sick. Tattdbueller, did you paint the lettering on the tires, or did they come that way? |

They look great. It never would've occurred to me to do that. |

Personally, if you think you might be doing a bunch of tire changes, a polished edge is better but I think the full powder coat looks so much more aggressive. I'm waiting on a full powder coat front rim right now and am trying to track down a rear one. My bike will actually end up looking really similar to Tattdbueller's, except that, for now, I have a silver frame (XB9R with black XB12 plastics). I've nearly finished polishing out a rear swing arm and come winter, I'll start polishing out the frame, so I'll have an all black bike with a polished swing arm/frame (along with several carbon parts). I really need to get some pictures taken. |

I had them done in yellow before the white. It looks pretty cool too. Might go back to yellow. My wheels are painted. My buddy has a paint shop and hooked me up. I did'nt want to screw with the bearings. Just scuff and shoot. He used some special hardener or something. No chips so far. (Message edited by tattdbueller on April 26, 2006) |

Pay attention to what BS and Tatt said, if the powder coater covers the area where your bearings or valve goes, you'll have plenty of problems. My powder is going on 2 3/4 years old with only one small chip on one spoke of the front wheel. |

How would one go about removing the powder coat on the amber wheels? I only want to remove it on the outer lip just as it rolls into the bead... Thanks. |

> How would one go about removing the powder coat on the amber wheels? I suspect it can't be done cleanly. One of the wheels I'm starting with is amber, but they're just going to sandblast the whole thing off and start from bare metal. |

Looks nice Lonexb. I love the way the all black rim makes the tires look so fat. What brand tires are you running there Lonexb? |

Sanchez, I would ask your dealer if they require you to replace your old bearings with new ones. They told my buddy he had to replace them because of something to due with the stress on them during removal. Of course they told him that when he goes to pick them up after they put new bearings in. The Dicks. I have reused the sealed bearings before on a late model set of spokes and they were fine. Although, that was for a softail. Big difference. You be the judge. If by chance the bearings in our wheels are the same bearings used in late model H-Ds you can get them at Jireh Cycles for $7.60 each. instead of $30.00 each. My suggestion, just paint the fu@%ers and be done with it. Good luck. |
