Okay with the increasing price of gasoline and thought I would throw out a challenge. Let’s see who here on the BadWeb is the MPG King or Queen. Let’s see real data from today forward. Such as this morning I filled up with 2.63 gal with 129.7 on the trip odometer . Bike is ’04 XB12R w/ 21K miles. So, I’m the current King at 49.3 MPG. So if in the FUTURE you have a tank of fuel that you bet 49.3 MPG post up that data and take the MPG Crown and be the BadWeb MPG King. |

If you're bustin 40 mpg's you're not riding hard enough. The sound from the Jardine alone keeps me under 40!! Love this bike! |

I've got a Jardine slip-on too and I ride the absolute sh*t out of my Buell. I figure if something is going to blow up I want it to happen under warranty. In fact I went on a group ride on Saturday and the guys couldn't believe how hard I was riding my "harley". I said if they can push their I4's that hard then I can push my Buell even further, i.e. anything you can do I can do better!! Ain't nothing wrong with an air-cooled, pushrod American v-twin. Anyway, on topic, I get anywhere from 38-44 mpg. Oh and I pretty much see at least 100mph everytime I ride. |

No way any of you non-blast riders can claim the crown. |

I don't care about mpg on the bike, its strictly for pleasure. When I start to not ride the bike because of fuel prices then its time to sell up. I do own a 1977 RD400 and that thing seems like it gets about 15mpg (i could be exagerating. Its absolutely terrible on fuel but its so much fun to ride. |

I was ready to buy a Honda Super Hawk, had a loan approved and down payment, insurance ready to go and everything. Then I checked the fuel mileage (33-35mpg) and canceled the whole deal. That was about four months before I found my Buell. Sure glad I held off. My bike is for transportation as much as for fun... |

I had no idea thos old strokers were so thirsty! My old RM125 was thirsty too but I thought it was just because it was totally clapped out and most of its miles were spent aerating sandpits. |

Been commuting for about 2 weeks on my EX250F17 ('03 250 Ninja). Average over 70 mpg. Saves miles on my Uly, (about 45 mi per day). Fun to flog, easy on tires, keeps me out of my car |

My best, was on my way up to Mass earlier this month, I normally fill at abotu 150... stopped @ 162miles.. took 2.4 gallons..actually took out my phone and did the math...67.5 didnt get anything close the rest of the way though...once I hit the NJTP, I was flat out all the way home... BTW, I was riding like an wuss because the bike was running WIERD, and wasnt gonna push it...I was about halfway between VB and MA (turned out to be bad gas, I guess, it cleared itself after a tankfull or so..) Hey Ryker @ 50k you will have to replace your timing belt on the VW. That costs $1000.00 a pop. Regards Mike |

Try 100k with the newer VW's, 80k 00-03, 60k 97-99. It really shouldn't cost any more than a gasser. Do it yourself and save the $$$. John (Message edited by bikoman on April 26, 2006) |

Thats correct. they are good for 100k. Tools for less than 250. tdiclub.com has a large pdf file on how to do it. Takes less than 4hrs. Most cars suggest 100k belt or chain changes. But with a diesel it's a must change at 100k |

Once saw 77mpg imperial(65mpg US) tank to tank from my '96 S1 on a group ride with some inspired riding partners. I live near Toronto, Ontario. In '95 it cost me $35 to drive my V-Dub diesel home from Dallas Texas: 1800+ miles. Diesel was $.99/USgal. |
