He rode 200 miles yesterday to his son's place, got soaked to the bone, arrived before kidlet got home and immediatley went for the beer stashed in his saddlebags.
I can only imagine the embarrasement Otis felt arriving home to find his old man sprawled out in the driveway amidst a sea of empty beer cans.
Reports from the satelite in geo-synch earth orbit were that they were headed for Mexico and points West in Texas.
If you stay in Chicago, you'll ikely be outside Danger Ring 1 but I wouldn't get south of St. Louis until he returns.
NOTE: This is just my PERSONAL opinion.

I doubt seriously if Otis were in the least nonplussed -- after all, he lived with Thang for quite some time -- I imagine that he (Otis), upon finding him (Thang) sprawled in the driveway (although being the soul of decorum, I would bet Thang made it to the bushes lining said patch o pavement), simply sighed, grabbed the old man by a heel, and drug him indoors, as he (Otis) had been trained to do from way back

After a good after dinner nab and thinking how to steer this oily conversation in a good direction, without spending the good oil, I thought best to remove only a few contributions.
My goodness: In between the tread has continued on levels with a too high abstractions level for my low at earth thinking.
Removing a few messages will loose the trail for even the most sophisticated brains, I am afraid.
However: It was me who removed, at last, only one single, most abrasive, sand particle in one single message.
And I will continue to do that every time when I read "You are " followed by something, more or less related with, human or animal, faecal or other, excretions.

Funny though, I don't recall calling you a liar. I remember posting several times on several pages on a 'cop' thread before you jumped in with what I thought was a silly notion about outlaw bike clubs and cops being best of friends, to which I aired my views. Then Blake jumped in, in your defense, which is when I said you where talking shit.
Truth is, you have made many friends here, so why the need to strut around with the matchstick in your mouth on an internet forum? After all, you're a nice guy aren't you?

Don't sweat the Tramp thing either. I know he's a nice guy, but just like me he is also confrontational. I just didn't agree on a point or three with him. I'm sure we can kiss and make up. That's the BadWeB speciality - working it out.
Now about that one Buell I was talking about. Mine. I found the 61 toof rear pulley, and the spec sheet for all the combinations of pulleys, but I didn't find the US spec drive pulley. No worries.
If I get time tomoz I'm going to fit the 61 toofer and go for a blat in the hills. Did I mention I'm excited by this prospect?
Hey Blake, I'm lacking real track experience, but I can tell you at Croix I wore a hole in the side of my three week old Caterpillar's. Ground off the tip of the gear shift peg and foot peg. Bent the gear shift crescent into a rear facing piece of junk metal, and put the S1W in the kitty litter, upright still LOL. Yeah, tracks don't do it for me. Dangerous places for your bike, bones and bank statement!

Did someone miss reading a couple of posts? Or does someone just like to dwell on the negative?
Talking shit, stirring shit or being full of shit are totally different than out and out lying. That would be the standard, American, definition as I understand it. So can we chill on the 'veiled' or 'non-veiled' threat garbage? That is beyond silly and childish and shouldn't be tolerated at all.
By the way, if you feel the need to pummel someone due to words typed on a screen, maybe you need to talk to someone about venting whatever frustrations and aggressions you truly have in a more positive and productive way.
If my non-confrontation(as it is intended) post makes you angry enough to want to box me about the face and ears, by all means give me a jingle and we can discuss your discord. |

Thanks Pete. I found that exact same post myself yesterday, whilst looking for the US pulleys I have (had). I'd printed the email out and left it in the workshop with the pulley(s). Not plural though because I can't for the life of me find the drive pulley. Never mind. Looking at the theoretical speeds, I may well have chose to run just the 61 tooth anyway, as a base line. Hopefully, I'll get the chance tomoz.

Rocket, I've got the Euro front & US rear setup on my M2, & it feels great, high enough to run economically for distance work, but low enough to unload the forks with ease.
Tramp, I think we have a language mixup here, when a Brit says you're talking shit, generally it's in the friendly insult style & we don't take offence. If Sean had wanted to call you a liar, he'd have called you a liar, he didn't though. |

Rocket: it's easy ... all the bikes have a 1.6 primary and a 2.69 first gear ... final drive on the euro gearing is 1.9 and final drive on the US gearing is 2.26. So overall drive ratios are:
Euro: 1.6 * 2.69 * 1.9 = 8.18
US: 1.6 * 2.69 * 2.26 = 9.73
At 6500 rpm, the rear wheel rpm will be:
Euro: 6500 / 8.18 = 795 rpm
US: 6500 / 9.73 = 668 rpm
Torque is (hp * 5252) / rpm, so torque at the rear wheel is:
Rocket: (100 * 5252) / 795 = 661 ft/lbs.
Peter: (89 * 5252) / 668 = 700 ft/lbs.
'Course, if you had the US gearing:
(100 * 5252) / 668 = 786 ft/lbs.
BTW, I noticed this morning on the way to work that 100mph is 4800 rpm with the US gearing (my M2). Course I could be wrong, it was hard to see the tach sitting backwards on the bars.

Well I'm not convinced the paper theory works as well in reality.
Yesterday I did 220 miles up into the deepest regions of the Yorkshire Dales, and after many varied roads I can only conclude that the acceleration isn't that much better, if at all, with a 61 tooth rear pulley. There's a tad more response maybe, but more gear changes (remember that old chestnut from years ago?) over a set distance. I struggled even with a favourable wind not quite behind me to get 6000 rpm and 120 mph indicated.
If there's a favourable outcome I feel I can tell after just yesterdays ride, I'd say stirring the gearbox in the twisties might be of an advantage, but I'd have to wait until I'm out riding in combat with the big guns. Yesterday was myself and a friend on an RSV Factory Mille, but my friend's cautious and gaining experience on it, so no real comparo.
Thanks for the info as usual. I'll keep on it, but I may have a rear wheel bearing issue after changing the pulley. And yes I was very cautious about belt tension, which I left as slack as the elastic on a whores draws.
