The past year has been roller coaster ride that has no end. On the last day of March, 2005, my parents were involved in a car crash in Corbin Kentucky. My mom was just torn and tattered, but alive. Airlifted to Lexington and after 4 months in the ICU they started reducing her care -- she's still in a facility, but she's alive, cognizant, and there's still a chance we'll get her home someday. Only God knows if that'll ever happen. Through this entire process my dad has stuck to her side like glue -- agape love? He has refused, since day one, to not be as near to her as humanly possible. I've been worried sick about him too and I've been begging him to take a day or two off to get some rest, reload, recharge, but he has steadfastly refused. I hadn't talked to dad today so I called his cell phone just to check up on him and got the scare of my life. He couldn't talk, but I could hear labored breathing -- I hung up, called the sheriff's department where he's located (I knew they'd jump on it because dad spent many years as a deputy) and they dispatched the emergency services, may God bless the fireman & EMTs, and they saved my dad's life. He was transported to one hospital, and then on to another facility, and as of 15 minutes ago he was able to mumble a few words to me on the phone. I'll be leaving here early in the AM to check on my dad, and my mom, and if you're a praying person your prayers would be greatly appreciated. Didn't mean to ramble,,,,,working by myself in a data center this is my only form of interaction until sometime tomorrow. Later, G2 |

BigDaddy, Thank you for sharing this story of devotion. I know right now you are in the midst of the immediacy of fears and need for action, but the steadfast love and caring that your family has for one another just brings tears to my eyes. I'll add my "God bless you all", but he already has. |

Greg -- safe travels and we are praying for your parents. As they sometimes say, timing is everything. Sounds like yours was the lifeline for your Dad. That in itself can be answers to a previous prayer. God Bless, Kristi & Carlos |

Bigdaddy I'm with ya. Feb second my sister called to say that my Dad had been rushed off to the hospital and it did not look good. I rushed out of here and set out to RI (5 hour drive from here) Got there he was still not good. They at first thought his anurisum (sp) was comming undone. (had it fixed 20 years ago). Good news is that he had a really bad infection in his system and meds are fixing it. scary stuff. I also work alone. My thoughts are with you.

Bigdaddy, The fact that your father is still alive means that he has won the toughest battle already. There is a lot of healing force in the universe: You have only to ask for it. My strongest prayers for your parents and you. Hans |

All, All the thoughts, and prayers, are greatly appreciated. Right now we're looking at multiple bypass and a valve replacement -- sounds pretty simple in writing, but it's a very big deal. Bottom line is I've still got them and and God continues to bless us. Only time will tell. The continued prayers,,,,can't thank everyone enough. G2 |

Bigdaddy, My Daddy also went through quadruple by-pass in Jan 2003. While it was scary, to see the improvement in his health has been well worth it. Be prepared to stay with him once they move him out of ICU and into a regular room. My Daddy slept in the recliner (suggested by the medical staff) and I slept/dozed in the bed. I couldn't leave him alone and hope that the nursing staff would see/hear everything. Try and get some rest while he's in ICU for you (or other family members) will be his primary caregiver on the floor. The progress from day to day is remarkable. Keep that pillow they give him close. My Daddy still travels with his in his truck each and every day. For each good cough and sneeze he'll be reaching for that pillow. Keep us posted and we will continue to pray for him and the rest of your family. Kristi & Carlos |

BigDaddy, My own Quad bypass in October 04 was the second scariest thing I ever went through- the blowout heart attack 3 months before was #1. I was out in 4 days and am still kicking-though nowhere as hard as I used to. Please know that I believe God works through people, and that He will work through the surgeon's hands.Let go,Let God, and know that all the prayers for you, your Dad, and your family are already answered. Peace to you and yours. |
