I know this is old news. How the heck could a Guzzi beat these XBRR Buells? What the heck is this world coming too? http://www.motoguzzi.it/servonline/news/dettaglio.asp?indice=226 Regards Mike (Message edited by mfell2112 on March 26, 2006) |

YES, it's true it is the sign of the "end of days". A BMW also took FIRST in Thunderbike, I think, with XBRR 2nd and 3rd, A BMW..., my god how will we ever hold our heads up again anywhere? Unless they start taking that top position back from here on out. then we can just call it "teething" problems, eh? http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/newsdetail.asp?news_id=811 |

I just love the idea of such ancient engine designs still coming out on top. I mean what next, steam power gonna win next year? |

The RRs pulled out on purpose; the Guzzi wouldn't have beaten them. But, it still was one fast mutha! And cool to see it running well! |

Anonymous, Pulled out on purpose? You can't leave us hanging on this one. When do racers pull out on purpose? Secret deal with Guzzi? Keeping the competition lulled into a false sense of security? You are such a tease. |

Those were NOT XBRRs competing for the win in that race, which is a restricted class with the ratio of HP/Weight limited. The XBRRs were tuning for the 200 only, which is the same thing the factory Yammies were doing in some of the other classes. Rico on the XBRR of Hannover Germany won the Supertwins race in CCS...the one that matters! In the Thunderbike, the top two Buells had mechanical problems, leaving the way for Nate Kern to take it on his BMW Boxer Cup bike...one of his 5 wins for the weekend@ http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=25166 (Message edited by jimidan on March 26, 2006) (Message edited by jimidan on March 26, 2006) |

I like Moto Guzzis. I used to ride and race one back in the '70s. If I weren't on a Buell, I'd probably be riding one. They have a good basic design that's been refined and developed over the years. Their biggest weaknesses in this country are their dealer network(or lack of) and poor parts availability and exorbitant pricing. It's really neat to see one do well. |

ky it is common at Daytona to run races for pracitice and then pull out to let others win. Either just good sportsmenship to let the amatuers win the amateur races or even bike running in classes that they may be marginally eligable for but are actually not legal. This is used as extra practice time by many teams. DiSalvo had the superbike race won and pulled off on the last lap to take a DNF on purpose. |

When I was running a Seca 550, I would run in anything that was allowed. It's a good way to get practice and track time. As long as you didn't mind getting lapped alot. |

Davegess sez: "ky it is common at Daytona to run races for pracitice and then pull out to let others win. All of the Chuck Graves (remember him...used to race Buells) Yammy factory team (remember, they have no AMA superbikes) were using the CCS races for practice and set-up for the 200 and Supersport. None of these Yammy factory bikes actually competed in the races. Emgo Suzuki with Michael Barns and Geoff May however, routinely cherry pick at CCS and American Sport BikeA (formerly Formula USA) races, taking the purses away from privateer teams who really need the money. Emgo Suzuki is not a true "factory" team, but they are heavily supported by the factory, like Erion Honda..and they drive up in a semi with full professional riders (that IS their day job!) and compete against guys who brought their bikes in on the back of their pickup truck. Isn't it about time that Emgo Suzuki stopped this practice? It just isn't fair. |
