Pretty cool, took me a while to get enough points to launch the damn thing... |

Globalspec is right across the river from me, and one of my buddies is a programmer there. Will have to ask him about these games. Now I have something to waste (err I mean occupy) my time while I should be coding... |

Hmmm.. I'm no engineer.. and I don't play one on television.. on top of that.. I DIDN'T sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.. So I'm having problems getting this thing to go all the way.. Oh well.. It's fun to mess with.. Maybe, someday, I'll get into space.. hehehehehe.. |

I can get the ball to the button on medium with only four parts added, but it doesn't get enough power... Do I need to bumper the ball into the button to get over a "one"? |

You need to bounce the ball around a lot before it gets there. Think of a pin ball machine where the more bumps you get the higher of a score you get. You need a minimum score to launch. I got one setup where the ball got stuck between a bumper and the wall and the score kept going up but the ball was going nowhere, if it could have eeked out somehow I could have had an extremely high score. First goal is to get a high enough score, second goal is to get the ball to the launch button. I got all three levels but with probably minimal scores to launch and get the crane thing to come out of the rocket and grab the ball before it did. Kind of a fun neat game. |

Oh... I was trying to use the least number of parts possible... I thought you said this was an "engineering" game . |

I little of trial & error and I got it to launch. I just kept adding 1 piece at a time until it bounce all over h@ll & creation before hitting the launch botton. In all, only used 26 pieces. |

I also thought that the idea was to use the minimal amount of parts as well... But oh well, so far max was 8000. |

I got up to 22,500 but then I looked at the high scores and was embarrassed by my "high" score... It is fun to make a machine that works well with all three types of balls - difficult due to the balls' differing physical characteristics. |

I'ven gotten a couple of decent ones (no High score ones). But Bumpers and Power Rams help. Considering I also collect pinball machines, I did have a bit of fun. The geek in me was trying to make one that would launch with all 3 balls. This one here will launch with metal and wood (15K metal, 10K wood), with different paths through it. http://www.globalspec.com/brainstrainer/homepage.cfm?gameId=2&machineId=3473 Also the have a trebuchet challenge which is quite fun also. http://www.globalspec.com/trebuchet/ |

I'm freakin hooked on these games!! The trebucet will come in handy as I plan on building one for this year's Punkin' Chunkin' competition. Anybody else ever went to that? We're talkin 110' air cannons with 4 tons of pressure sending a 10" pumpkin over a mile. |

great good fun, I managed to break 30 k I Met a guy out of VA that was building one of those air cannons about 80 ft of Stainless pipe bbl, too cool.. he wanted me to try to improvise a "cronograph" to determine the speed of the projectile in the tube, so he could figure out the correct air pressure. |

Woohoo! 165,305! And about 30 minutes worth of work-time wasted!
Now let's see if I can break into the high scores with XLD... |
