Howdy folks! I am in the process of trying to pick keywords for google to market my hot air balloon business. I can not afford real market research so I thought I would ask you folks a couple of questions. 1. What search engine do you use most often? 2. If you wanted to go ballooning what would keywords would you use. Try to think of being a tourist! Thanks! |

Skyguy -- my step-dad has been flying hot air balloons since 1988, way before the internet we know today. He got referrals from other balloon companies who were overbooked, handed out cards at rallies, magnet on his truck and then word of mouth from past passengers. My Mom acted as PR during set-up to those who stop to watch. My husband handled the crown line and I was the crew chief. We've attended many rallies and met some really neat people, a lot like BRAG events. Best of luck with your business. Stay away from the trees and remember its better to be sorry on the ground than sorry in the air. As we always told our passengers, the only predictable thing about ballooning is that it will be unpredictable. We explain that we are held to the weather of the day and that too much wind doesn't make for a great flight. Again, good luck and post a picture of your balloon. They are truly magnificent and everyone should try it at least once. Kristi |

Skyguy, do you know about Google Adwords? It's a pay per click advertising method. I use it when the business is down a little bit and it work very well. You define on which keyword you want your add to be show and it appear on the first page on the right. It cost only a couple of cents per click when someone click on your ad. You can define a monthly budget. In example, if you define a budget of $20, your ad will be show until you reach the budget limit. You can define a campaing by region etc... You can suspend the campaing when you want. It is very effective and not expensive. Here the link for the info: https://adwords.google.com/select/Login?hl=en_US |

Ulywife, Very cool! The balloon world is a lot of fun. A lot more fun than the paraglider/hanglider world for sure. I have owned a paragliding school for almost 13 years and just quit teaching. I still do a lot of tandem flights off the mountains above Los Angeles though. 3,460+ hours soaring paragliders now..... I am all about the weather and it is a hobby aside of just flying. MikeBolts, There is already a company offering "mile high flights" I am avoiding it as I am sure just offering it would offend some potential customers. Stou, Googles pay per click is what I have been looking at. Some of the bids are as high as $1.93!!! I am not sure that is what they are paying but I am still doing the research. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and info! Ciao |
