do any badweb members own one of these? my son (8 years old) wants one of these for his birthday. i was reading about them on a few internet webstores and i'm a little confused. i see that most of them have a top speed of anywhere from 30-60mph. every brand i see all say that they are the fastest and the best constructed. i will deffinately be adjusting the throttle so the speed is limited, but i'm just wondering if anyone has ever owned anything like this and what there experiance has been. i also noticed that the max weight on most of them is 300 lbs. i'm sure if i get him one i'll be tempted to take it for a spin. |

I have a couple friends that have some cheap ones. You definately get what you pay for. They are alot of fun! But neither of them get rode very often anymore because everytime they get rode, they break. It's always something, not always anything major, just little things, or the carb falls off, the kill switch stops working, tiny chain breaks, etc. Of course, that was with grown "adults" riding them. I'm a strong believer that it's worth investing a bit more money to buy one with a bit more support. Do some research to make sure that what brand you are looking at has parts available somewhere on the web with easy access. |

I have had one that I bought my little 14 year old son ( 6'1" 207lbs ) and have had it for about 2 years. We have had NO problems with it. A friend of mine went out a bought one at the same place ( Pep Boys ) about 2 weeks after us....NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS from a bad battery to oil leaks to not starting. Guess we dodged the bullet, but ours has been great. Superbee |

Razor has an electric pocket bike. 24 volt (2x12), goes up to about 15mph - so you'll have no speed worries there. Also, being that it is electric, you can take him to any school parking lot, etc. and not get kicked out for noise/nuisance factor. Runs for a good 45 min to an hour - more than the attention span of typical kid. It also takes a rider up 220 lbs. So you'll be bargaining with him for ride time. I bought one for one of my sons. I'll just say this - it's the first birthday present that still gets used. We'll be getting one or two more this spring. (Don't forget to get him some pads & a lid)

Z 50's are the best. Put on slicks for the street and install a manual clutch. They are nice and quiet with plenty of power for a kid. They are a super reliable bike. |

I got one for sale! The Little Kid graduates to the Blast in May, he will be 16. No problems with it though, high quality, cheap Chinese slave labor made. There are tons of hop-up parts available on the internet for them. The Little Kid weighs over 200 lbs. Pretty cool, lots of detail, disc brakes, suspension and lights and things. Top speed is probably 15-20 mph. There are tons of different models and manufacturers around, from all out competitive water cooled race bikes to the regular type ride'em for fun. We used to sell the Blata pocket bikes and they were great. Full spares backup and fast service etc. We stopped doing them when the chinese invasion happened over here that flooded the market with cheap copies. These sell at around 1/4 the price of the Blata, and have no backup whatsoever. Many have been found to be dangerous and unsaleable by our government inspectors, and they have given the whole pocket bike industry a very bad name. Stick to the established players such as Blata, GRC, Polini and you will be fine. Make sure you explain to the importer/dealer that it is for a child though, as some of these models are capable of some pretty horrendous speeds and have the power to weight ratio of a GP250!! This one has 14bhp
