Henrik -- wilco, sir, after I've had a chance to use the lid a bit -- it really did just arrive yesterday -- I've got about 4 years (5?) using the previous incarnation of this helmet (the Concept) -- fit and finish were aces, removable/replaceable liner a good feature, vetilation was OK, but not the best in the market. I'[ve little more data on Schberth's testing other than what you can find on the net . . . . except I DID field test the chin bar latch in an unplanned noggin-asphalt interface. The latching mechanism did not fail (all force against the chin bar was from the side). the latching mechanism is metal on metal, as is the hinge -- the hinges seems to be reinforced and mated to the helmet shell over a large surface, which would spread any force across a larger area -- oin the C2, there are visal tell-tales to alert you if one or both of the latches are locked, which is handy . . . . when latching, it sounds like a mid-60s mercedes door closing -- bank-vault like As for Snell -- even discounting Motorcyclist Magazine's recent series of pieces on helmets, Snell standard is designed primarily for car racers, and subjects helmets to conditions that simply will not occur in the motorcycling world (or the frequecy of their occurance is very small) . . . I have an Arai full face that I wear on Track Days, but wear the Schburth everywhere else (I even wore the Shuberth to a track day once, just tossed it in the truck without thinking -- no one said anything, but, to mu mind, a solid full face is likely a bit safer than a flip front, specially at track speeds) |

HJC AC-10 Black Aria RX-7 Corsiar (Hayden, Blue) Shoei RJ-Air (don't wear it that much except on the cruiser) Uh.. forget what the half lid is.. Joe Rocket Highside Gloves (blue/black/white) Joe Rocket textile gloves (blue/black) FieldSheer Tattoo jacket (blue/black/white) Vanson Buell jacket (blue/black) Joe Rocket textile jacket forget which model (blue/black) Joe Rocket mesh jacket (blue/black) Fieldsheer Tattoo One Piece suit (blue/black/white) Hein Gerick Denim/leather jacket (some 15 years old and I don't wear it very much any more) Draggin' Jeans (one blue, one black) Sidi Vertabre boots (yep, you guessed it, blue/black) Of course, that's more then just my head being covered.. but since everyone else was listing gear, I figured, why not? Does anyone besides me see a trend in my color selection? (Actually Bumble Buell had a lot to do with it at the outset.. she thought I should be color coordinated).. |

H -- I've owned a nolan and a Schubert, and looked closely at all the other flip fronts -- no camparison wrt quality -- the built-in sunglasses were the icing on the cake, for me lastly, as a friend put it "If you're gonna wear safety gear, kinda hard NOT to go with the German's, ain't it?" |

Colorful Arai Crafar replica Kinda stands out on top of a blue Aerostich Roadcrafter Replaced a damaged right shield side cover with a white one. Now looking for a "HANG UP AND DRIVE" sticker to fill in the white space as my public service announcement. |

It's very easy not to go with the Germans. Try Vanson for one. |

I finally sprung for the helmet of my dreams: a Black Arai Signet. It fits soooo well, I don't think I'll ever take it off. Know what I mean?

that's one of the great things about riding -- that "New Helmet Smell" is soooo much cheaper than a new car! |

Right now, I'm using a Schuberth Concept, but it's getting close to worn out. I think my next helmet is going to be a Nolan X-1002. I tried one on at the New York IMS and really liked how it felt. |

Yes it does. Very light too! A little snug around the cheeks, but I believe that will loosen up after wearing it a few times. It's my first "expensive" lid. Still a fan of HJC too, though. |

What I wore today (usual commute stuff): Helmet- Shoei RF-900 (solid anthracite) w/ spectra shield Jacket- Joe Rocket "hard drive" Gloves- Alpinestars GP Pro Boots- Sidi Vertigo Pants- Wrangler relaxed fit jeans For warmer weather I'll trade the JR jacket for the top half of my 2-pc Alpinestars GPU leathers. For really hot weather I'll use my Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket and sometimes switch to textile gloves. |

Used to wear a Nolan N-100 flip-up, got a Schuberth about a year ago, love the retractable sunshield, pretty impressive here in "West By God" where you rarely see anything besides a little black half helmet covered with stickers. |
