Rick, What if a being had the intrinsic ability to transcend space and time, to be all places at all times? He'd make one heck of a prospect to ride an XB9R in AMA Superstock. LOL! Seriously though, either one believes that the universe and the entirety of life are all one big cosmic accident, or that they are the product of intelligent design. Forget all the prejudices, forget about religion... which seems more probable... matter arrising from nothing and accidental order springing from chaos, or deliberate creation of matter followed by fruition of organized design intent. Scientifically speaking, one of those two scenarios is impossible. There is already a creation/evolution topic if y'all are interested in continuing the discussion. |

Jim, Isn't it interesting how we always seem to exaggerate. There may be a joke there if you look carefully. |

Well, there is one basic rule that universally applies...the one that I can truly place a stake in... s**t happens! |

Yeah, but that almost always involves a scenario where things are tending to go from ordered to chaotic. |

Creation or random chance, What are the mathmatic odds that if a tornado passed over a junkyard, that a 747 jumbojet would fly out from the ensuing swirl of parts? It's comical to even propose the question, but statistcally speaking, the odds are far greater for this to occur than for us as humans to have come into existence due to random chance when considering the complexities of the human being in their whole. Not to mention you have to completely ignore the second law of thermodynamics to reach such a conclusion. Timbo |

You start with Hydrogen and Helium soup several billion years ago, super heat the mixture until it explodes. Chaos and random mutations take over fueled by the solar winds, and over a long enough period, you get everything you now see in the universe. Simple. |

Try starting with an infinite energy contained at a point of zero dimensions - release, create time... Voila! The universe. Still up for debate, is there sufficient mass to slow the current expansion to zero and lather, rinse, repeat - like a cosmic tank slam. (Thanks to Blake for the motorcycle tank slam solution, I should have thought of undamped (under-damped) harmonics.) Oz |

Back to countersteering and gyroscopic effects... From a recent AMA Pro-Racing press release (see the "Racing - Road Racing" topic)...
quote:“I grew up a lot on the same style tracks in Texas. It’s got a lot of hard breaking and a lot of fast chicanes where you have to muscle the bikes through it. I’m a taller, bigger guy, but I’m definitely not the biggest guy in the class. For some reason when it comes to muscling the bike through fast stuff, someone in front of me is usually slowing me down.” Spies said that California Speedway puts major physical demands on a rider. The ferocity of the fast transitions is such that Spies once bent his bike’s handlebars from the torque he placed on them.
