One of my good friends, Steve Long, is very interested in the Uly...His current rides are a ST1100 and a FZ1...I'll let him post here if he chooses but he's kind of looking for a bike that's good in the twisties and still can carry the load, comfy seat, some dirt back roads, well, you get the idea...He's pretty much zeroed in on either the Multistrada or the Uly...We've just looked into the dealer network issue and, of course, there are a whale of a lot more Buell dealers than Ducati...Plus, in a pinch out in the outback, there's all those H-D and indy shops that work on American iron...So here's what we're interested in finding out from you gals and guys, the Uly experts, if ever there were... What's the most s'miles anyone's put on one as of yet? Has anyone experienced any problems?... Thanks, Bob p.s. You can find us at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/MO-SIL-HSTA/ and I'll put a link on our site to this thread... |

I think Jim meant to post this link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/142838.html?1139811904 to the "Big, Bad, & Dirty" section of BadWeb for Uly riders. Tell your friend that Mike Kneebone recently bought one. He'll probably have 100k on his before March.... |

...good in the twisties and still can carry the load, comfy seat, some dirt back roads,... Yep, that's a Uly. As Whodom said, have him check out the "Big, Bad & Dirty" section here on BadWeb.} |

I can't compare the Uly to the Multistrada, as I've only ridden the Uly. The Uly excels at what you say he is looking for, particularly if by "carry the load," you mean riding with a passenger. In fact the fastest way to end up owning a Uly is to take a testride with your significant other on the back. They will absolutely love it. I've written about my experience owning the bike here if you want to read more. |

I know where he can get a Uly I was able to take a Uly on the track last week. Other than scraping the pegs a bit(ok,lots!) it handled track duty very well. I was going faster than I would ever ride on a public road so I think it would handle about anything you'd throw at it. As for comfort,I did about 1500 miles on one last Labor Day weekend and it was great! If I could only have one bike(God forbid) the Uly would be the one. |

There was a post a few weeks ago that mentioned both bikes. The major benefits of the Uly were the riding comfort (pressure on wrists due to handle bar position), dealer network and maintainability. Some articles I've read also give the Uly better marks on dirt roads. |

Daves...Where, oh where, might that be? Thanks everyone, you have been a big help...I knew you could give Steve a lot to chew on...I'll let you know how this all plays out... BTW...Vtwin is back in the Buell biz...He just bought a S2 from one of the other guys here in STL...The S2 was the scooter that first caught John's eye...Then he bought his S3T and put about 80k on it before selling it to move to a FJR...But he's been jonesing for an S2 forever so he finally went and did it...Good on ya John!... Racerboy, if I remember correctly you meet up with a bunch of us KC guys when Ferris Bueller rode his Uly from WI to CA. I think Dave rode a Uly with him from WI to IA and back. Send Ferris a email and get his thoughts on the bike. |

19K+ in all types of riding.....superslab, twisties, dirt/gravel, fully loaded, completely naked(bike not me), mainly solo, but also a little two up riding. Day after day of 500 mile rides with one 1,000 plus day thrown in. I couldn't be any happier! No problems other than the license plate cover fell off........not much of a problem for me anyway. |

Thanks again guys...Well, I know what Jerry thought of the one he took from Daves' to the left coast...And I've seen what the Uly can do in the hands of a very good rider (well, from the rear view, at least)...We had some fun just as the roads approached the Missouri River, Jerry, Sam and I...This thing just may be the break-through moto that Erik has so needed...And by that I mean that it seems to be breaking through the main stream industry reluctance for things Buell...Wouldn't that be nice?... Thanks again, Bob |

BOb...I have around 5000 miles on mine and simply love it. No "problems" so far other than the wire guide that holds the clutch cable away from the headed broke. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107187 DAve |
