I have an 05 xb12r that needs a new rear belt sprtocket. Is the rear sprocket from an 03 xb compatible?

No. The old 2003 sprockets are for the 11mm Gates belt, which isn't real good, and would need a bunch of other parts, too. Stick with the 14mm Goodyear set up.
