Didn't see it posted here before, but the deal is almost up... "The Dolce Vita program applies to new motorcycles purchased between October 1st, 2005 and February 28th, 2006 and is limited to the models listed above. Qualifying motorcycles will receive free regularly scheduled service for 24 months or 6,000 miles (10,000 km) whichever occurs first. This campaign includes the 600 mile (1,000 km) and 6,000 mile (10,000 km) services so you can enjoy your new Ducati service cost free." 2 years 6000miles? isn't that like 6 months? (ok, maybe not on the 999) |

Any more proof needed that Ducati riders are posers? Or at least that the factory thinks they are?! Or else, how little faith Ducati has in their quality??! 6000 miles?! Buells are unlimited miles! |

a long time ago i worked on ducatis, the service was every 3000, change oil and filter and check valves evry 6000 change oil and filters check valves and do other checks , every 12000 or 2 years you must change out cam belts, if you don't they will break and take out a lot of parts with them. the cheapest service was 600.00 dolllars. that was with a 4 hours to do the job. the one thing that it notice was that the guys who rode hard and realy pushed there bikes would need less valve shim changes than the guys who road kinda eazy. the engine was make to run hard not baby. I own a buell and worked on ducatis. If I was to own an sport bike from Italy I would buy a Aprillia. |

"the cheapest service was 600.00 dolllars." So a fancy ducati bike will cost at least .25cents per mile.. Not accouting for tires, brakes, or fuel. |

the labor was set at 65.00dollars and hour and the service was a 4 hour, plus oil filter and if any shims were needed.most of the time at 3000 miles the valves did not need to be check and if you wanted belts change the labor was free because you have to remove the belts to do the valve check right. monster were eazyer and the st were the worst and there was more charge for all the body work that needs to be removed. the service was also a chain cleaning, lube and adjustment. all nuts and bolts were check and tire wear. bike was washed and detailed before it was released to owner. just remenber that the ducati is a exotic motorcycle and needs to be treated as one. honda and yamaha make about 4 to 5 times as manys motorcycles as do ducati. I would not own one because of the high maintainace cost and parts are not cheep,or eazy to get. |
