A Northwest Tennessee family hopes a deadly crash will serve as a wake up call to teenagers across the region. Sixteen year old Sean Thomas of Puryear, Tennessee was driving his dirt bike motorcycle with no lights. He was driving illegally on Highway 641 Near the State Line in Calloway County Kentucky. An SUV driving the other way pulled out to pass a car and hit Thomas head on. Sean Thomas' family was too emotional to talk on camera but told NewsChannel six they don't want his death to go in vain. Reported by WPSD I live about two blocks from where this happened. I think they are trying to bring charges against the guy in the suv. It was a bad accident for my area, but things like this can be avoided. Ya'll be safe out there!! |

Same thing happened here in KC, a guy was riding a dirtbike one the street messin around late at night and a car turned right in front of him and got messed up pretty bad, but I don't think anyone died. Too bad about that SUV, I know it would be an emotional time but you can't just go sueing everybody for something like that. Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming to... |

About 5 years ago, I was working at a high adventure camp up in the Sierra's. When the weekend came, my mom came to pick me up, and just had this look of total sorrow in her eyes. One of my best friends, and really a friend to everyone where I lived, was on a dirt bike pulling out into traffic. Never saw the car coming. He was dragged over 300 feet and ended up dying from the brain damage. Worst thing I had felt emotionally up to that point in my life, and it still tears at me every once in a while. It's a good thing too, cause you don't want to forget someone like that. Be careful, and always look before pulling out. Kyle Tumey...RIP |

"I live about two blocks from where this happened. " Is there a double-yellow on that stretch of road? I can't see why they'd charge the guy in SUV unless he was doing something really stupid when it happened. It's a horrible situation for all concerned. I was a pretty wild, irresponsible kid myself, but even I never rode my dirtbike on the streets at night. |

A more humorous teenager story: My nephew, a few years ago, age 15, out of control in lust, asks mom one evening "where's the duct tape?" a bit later " where's the charger?" ( for the Makita flashlight). after the rest of the family is asleep, he affixes the flashlight to the front fender of his honda XR100, pushes it all the way up the driveway, rides 15 miles, (it's january in Alaska, about 5 degrees F. and 0ne oclock in the morning) to girlfriends house. she has a friend over, so of course theres enough giggling to wake the parents..... you can guess the rest. |

There is a passing zone where the suv pulled out to pass. I couldn't figure out why they would charge the guy either. It was bad, but he couldn't help it if someone used bad judgement and rode illegally on the road with no headlight in the rain. That's a good one Fullpower, sounds like something I might have done! Oh our youth! |

I used to ride my KLX250 on the street at night. I had a head light and a tail light though. My game was to see how long I could get away with it before someone figured out that I was just a little 15 year old punk-ass. Have to stay close to the trail openings for when they figure out and send the mounties. |
