The spring attaches on one end to the cable bracket and the other end looks like it just loops over the pin on top of the valve. It's not clear to me what purpose it serves. There isn't anything in the service manual about it and my search of the KV didn't turn up anything. Any one in the know?

Thanks 99 but I was playing with it today and there seems to be an internal spring that provides the return.

I thought it was to keep the pin loaded to one side in the bore to keep it from rattling...cause it is not the return spring...my guess anyway...
