Reep, this is a snip from an e-mail that Mitch sent out on January 3rd:
So please pray for him today, and if you get a chance, drop him a note of encouragement. He has a great sense of humor and would love to hear

I realize that many of you may not even know Matt, and/or you might not be comfortable writing or calling. I can't express enough how much your prayers mean to us! We are sustained by those. I wasn't going to post this here, because my prayers are vertical (to God) not horizontal (to men).
I emailed it, but it feels appropriate to put it here, so Matt knows already what he has gone and stirred up right here in public, in the midst of a internet biker bar  .
Anyone interested, I invite you to grab your sword (cigars optional) and join me in worship from 10 to 11 tomorrow night, outside under the stars.
I'll be the one with the rocket launcher.

This is Bill Kilgallon (Reepicheep from www.badweatherbikers.com). You have some good friends there in Alex and Jerry.
Tomorrow evening, Friday Jan 27, from 10 pm to 11 pm EST, I will be saying a prayer for Matt and Matts family.
I will *not* be praying for Matt to be "well". I will *not* be praying for Matt to be "better".
I will be praying for Matt to fully become the worst nightmare of him that would seek to destroy Gods children.
I will pray that Matt, through the power of our living God, walks boldly and bravely, carrying with him the GLORY of Christ, be it to life here on earth, or to victory in heaven.
I will speak out against the foul spirits, who would crush the flesh and weigh down the spirit, and demand the presence of our loving Father, and of our relentless savior. I will not bind him with my narrow selfish earthly desires, yet I will rest absolutely in what I know to be true of his nature, and demand boldly that he bring you courage, that he bring you strength, that he be with you at all times.
I will pray he opens your eyes Matt to see parts of him that those of us trapped in this foul compromise of a sleepy delusional safety can only long for. I pray this strength of his presence fill the places you go, that no one can be near you and not experience transformation as a result of He that walks with you.

I have two pictures attached that will be with me while I pray. The first is an image of me as I interceed for you tomorrow night. It is a picture of a soldier, with rifle, night vision gear, and a rocket launcher, sitting quitely and watching attentively. I don't know if it will be Gods will that the enemy be exposed and that I get off a shot tomorrow night, but by God I hope so. I will take it, if I can.
The second picture is a piece of concept art done for the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie. It is Aslan, bright, warm, strong, and dangerous in the midst of dark times and dark places. He stands watching, he stands waiting, and he is in control, as his army marches behind him to the battle to crush evil.
Matt, I pray for you to be dangerous, I pray for you to be powerful, and I pray we both be forever altered by the presence of the Living God, whatever his will for us would be.

I want to thank you *so* much. I had a truly sweet time with my Father praying for you. This is real life, the times in between are but a faint shadow.
The only thing I would add to what I prayed would be a picture I saw that I believe God wanted to show you.
It looked like something from the second Lord of the Rings movie, where the struggle for helms deep was going on. It was night, and there were foul creatures, lined up as far as the eye can see hundreds deep. The enemy lines were thick, dangerous, and inpenetrable. They were snarling, snapping, and heavily armed.
And you walked right through them. They faded to nothing before you. You walked through their line, and in doing so left the light of day and green grass behind you. Their plans, their weapons, their strength and their teeth, simply could not exist in the presence of Him within you. They weren't just defeated, they became never existant at all. He being everything, left them as nothing, and he walked with you.
Thank you for the opportunity to stand with you for this watch in the night, and thank you for where you bring me, and who is with you. It is a sweet, sweet joy and you have given me a great gift.

thank you all again for answering the call, everyone who has spoken here, and to everyone who hasn't raised their voice on this thread but has raised their heart to Matt nonetheless.
i got a call from Alex Prior several minutes before the appointed hour last night, thanking me -- and all of you -- for what we are doing. Alex was preparing to pray for Matt as well, in his own way, just as Denise and i were preparing in ours.
it was great of Alex to call, to offer his thanks, and to help reinforce that we are all in this together.
Reep and Oldog, i spent some of my time last night in the front of the campfire (with cigar in hand!), thinking of you two, envisioning your presence and drawing strength from the knowledge that there were like-minded souls somewhere out there in the dark night, fighting for Matt.
i'm warmed to come here this morning and discover that there were others "out there" as well. thank you for that.
Alex and i have promised to keep this thread alive with news of Matt. as of yet we don't know how the past few days have gone for him, but we'll share any news we get, as soon as we get it.
thank you again. this is a great thing that you're doing, and we're humbled to be involved.

Some of the wood from the campfire was that collected along the lake here earlier last year prior to Oktoberfast - the flames from it rose high, the warmth comforting.
One piece, a larger one, gave off crisp blue flames - freedom flames. I was praying Matt could feel some of the fire inside him was set free. If you are listening Matt, know you are not alone. Can't say I've been where you are at right now, but close some 17 years ago, and having friends, family holding you in their prayers carries you through that fire, back to comfort. |
