Who would of thought i would have to move to Arizona to ask this question. I have worn snowmobiling gloves in the past, but they feel to bulky. What are people wearing for temps in the high 20's to low 30's (yes it is that cold in the morning in AZ). |

ALL of my street bikes have heated grips, that is an absolute must have. usually i wear snowmachine gloves, except on real warm summer days when i use thinner gloves. you get used to the bulk. |

While we're on the subject, I wonder if CityX/Uly handguards can be installed on a tuber? Cutting the windblast goes a LONG ways towards keeping your hands warm. |

anyone got a source for waterproof "fall" gloves w/o padding/lining in the palms? most "good" gloves have padding for warmth in the palms - catch is it also insulates "against" the heat from the grips. on days its too cold to wear summer gloves, Widders are over-kill yet nothing else is warm enough. 'course I hear Goldilocks had a similar problem. |

Heated grips, hand guards, and "normal" gloves might be the almost-all-year-round ticket. |

Whodom... I can ride my 9sx all the way down to 32F for distances up to about 40 miles with the Buell puck gloves (thin leather) and the handguards. They work really well. I had all the parts to build heated grips when I traded the Cyclone in for the 9sx, and never bothered to build them because the hand guards work so well. They should pop onto a tuber just fine. |

Reepi, that's pretty impressive. If it gets much below 50 degrees F and I'm riding any significant distance, I have to wear my Widders or my hands are freezing within a few miles. My Thinsulate insulated Hein Gericke gloves just don't do the job. I saw from his profile that toomanytoys (who started this thread) has an X-1, so hand guards look like the trick for him, but I wonder if the guards will clear the fairing on my S3? |

I use widder gloves along with a vest liner. Keeps you nice and toasty. Haven't had the need for them so far this year though. If you use widder stuff, make sure to get the adjustable thermostat. On full blast (hard wired without the thermostat) they will cook you. |

I have been thinking about the hand guards. That seems like the way to go. I was always able to ride my snowmobile with thin leather gloves due to the heated grips and the windshield. Little bit more wind on the X-1. How are people mounting the switch for the heated grips? |

my heated grips are on my FJR (and I use a HeatTroller not a switch), but remember you don't need to use the switch they come with: switch switch I think a 3-position is what you want Or run to Radio shack, get a nifty mini-switch and mount it in one of the controls like this guy did with his HeatTroller. |

Silk glove liners, and "normal" AGV cobra gloves on the S3T does fine for me down about 20 degrees. Anything less than that I have some padded/insulated gloves I use, but can't remember their name. I'm tempted to get these for those colder days. http://www.newenough.com/tour_master_coldfront_carbon_gloves_page.htm I've got the American Sport Bike grip warmers installed, but I've yet to actually wire 'em up. |

The Uly/SB9X handguards bolted right onto my '01 M2L, probably fit all tubers with 7/8" bars if nothings in the way. The Widder heated gloves are awesome... combined with the handguards I can ride down to freezing temps for hours! |

I just tried my new Buell cold weather gloves last night,(its snowin here tonite), and I was on my Uly for about 1.5 hours at nite. 38 degrees, my hands were very comfortable. I think they are water proof too. I bought em from DaveS at Appleton Buell. Not bulky at all, good feel for levers controls. |

I've got those Tour Masters and really don't like them. Too bulky, too small and way too much padding in the palms to make the heated grips useful. If you order a set - make sure you order them at least a size larger than you normally would. |

Ski Gloves from Wally World did the trick for me for the 40's. 20's and 30's, I'll have to go for the heated gear... |

Thanks again for all the input. I have just not been able to keep the fingers warm. Doesn't help that I about cut my ring finger off a year ago, and circulation is terrible at best. gets cold and sore in 50 degrees now. Think I will try the city cross hand guards. That way I can use them in the summer to keep debris from hitting the hands. Lot of gravel trucks traveling the highways in the phoenix area these days with all the construction. |
