My company has a job promotion opportunity for me in our Tulsa, OK office. Anybody from around there? I currently work at our Kansas City office, but have NEVER been to Tulsa, OK in my life. What is it like there? Good riding? Any Buell clubs? Housing market? Any Pros/Cons or special attractions? Etc... I have quite a while to decide, but I wanted to get some advice from anyone who has lived there. Thanks for the help! |

I live 2 or 3 hours away in Rogers, Ar, home of www.americanthunderbike.org we meet in Siloam Springs, AR from April-ish to October for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ in Fayetteville, AR. I, right now, am the only Buell in the riding group, but I have a couple friends close who should be joining us this year. |

Hey Drake, I have relatives there and went to Tulsa many times. Riding - yuck. Straighter than KC No known Buell activity Housing - equivalent to KC Pros - the summers are longer. About 5 degrees warmer than KC Cons - Even MORE conservative than KC. Think Oral Roberts as Mayor. It's a nice town. Good folks and easy to fit in with. Go for it if it improves your career prospects. |

Drake, you know I'm from Tulsa right? It is a nice place to live..Property is deff. cheaper than here....As far as the riding...Think Arkansas...Were talking under 2 hours to some great riding...You also have the Tahlahena (sp) area just S.E. of Tulsa. I would look into living in the Broken Arrow area..kinda on the outskirts of Tulsa, way laid back...and a little more on the country small town feel..It is the bible belt so you do have the Oral Roberts crowd and the Rema Bible Collage as well...Not that there's anything wrong with that if it's your deal, but it is all around if it's not. I would tell you to do it for the career, and you will find it's a lot like our little peace of the world we are livin' in now. Larry |

Tulsa is the start of GREEN country. East and South are good roads. I grew up in miami oklahoma, and then moved to tulsa...My wife and I loved Tulsa. Lot of fun..... AFter arizona, California, it seems like it has aged a little now. Used to be the oil capital of the world...that has changed. lot of pride (Message edited by rex on January 19, 2006) |

Tulsa's a good town. You could do allot worse. I've family there and visit quite often. The best way to describe it might be... "The biggest town in America." I've always been comfortable there...unless you are downtown proper it just feels like a big town...not a city. Economically, it has seen brighter days but real estate is reasonable as a result. I second the suggestion about Broken Arrow. I'm about 175 east/south in AR, BTW Here ya go.... I left Oklahoma drivin' in a Pontiac Just about to lose my mind I was goin' on to Arizona, maybe on to California Where all the people live so fine My baby said I was crazy, my momma called me lazy I was goin' to show 'em all this time 'Cause you know I ain't no fool an' I don't need no more schoolin' I was born to just walk the line Livin' on Tulsa time Livin' on Tulsa time Well you know I've been through it When I set my watch back to it Livin' on Tulsa time Well there I was in Hollywood wishin' I was doin' good Talkin' on the telephone line But they don't need me in the movies and nobody sings my songs Guess I'm just wastin' time Well then I got to thinkin', man I'm really sinkin' And I really had a flash this time I had no business leavin' and nobody would be grievin' If I went on back to Tulsa time Livin' on Tulsa time Livin' on Tulsa time Gonna set my watch back to it Cause you know I've been through it Livin' on Tulsa time |

I lived in Tulsa for 5 years. I agree that it had the feel of an over sided town and not a big city. Hated the toll routes as I was living in Claremore. But Route 66 was only 5 more minutes drive time. Only paid the 50 cents if I was late to work. It's the center of the country. Equal driving distance to anywhere! Great minior league Hockey team. Big riding comunity, but mostly in the Harley set. I worked at C&C Harley Davidson but I think they changed their name. Oh yea, GREAT gun shows, The indian dancing, the state fair, wide open spaces. I loved my time there, I dont think you would go wrong if you like the laid back living. |

Tulsa is an OK "town", the off ramps on the freeway are weird, tolls suck, and you have Hallet ( http://www.hallettracing.net/ ) to the west. Arkansas make for some good riding. (Message edited by rhost on January 23, 2006) |

Dusty, you worked for Cliff @ C&C?...I bought my first Buell from him back in 91....C&C is gone, and Route 66 is there now....They do carry Buells but weren't that Buell friendly when I was broke down there... Larry |

I worked for the miget half blood indian KKK member. And thank god it was only for about 8 months. Late 1999 thru early 2000 I learned my love for Buells there, as I was the PDI tech setting everything up that came off the truck. It was also the recall hell times. |

I lived in Tulsa for about 10 years (then moved to Dallas). It's a nice place to grow up and retire. Small town feel with a little shopping. All the restaurants are chains, though. Didn't get a bike until I moved to Dallas, but there is a lot of country in the state. I've been told there are 5 'mountain ranges' but I'm thinking that's the loose definition. Southern OK is hilly and green, though. Public library system was really good when we lived there. Lots of 'cultural' things to do, if you're into that. Bar scene left a little to be desired, so I hung out at the fraternities Not looked into the housing market, although I may have to soon (could be moving to Tulsa or OKC in the near future). Way I see it, it's just like Texas, but not as good Gun-friendly state, as mentioned. I've only visited KC, but it seems pretty comparable, only with less traffic. Laura |

I was raised in tulsa, but live in California now. I lived in Broken arrow, and a place called Berryhill. You will like the food, the music scene is also pretty hoppin, I was a studio bass player, the reason I am now in Cali. Lots of pretty girls, most have all of their teeth, and the riding isn't as bad as all that. On the west side of tulsa, near sand springs, lots of twisites, and hills. YEE Haww. Good folks, good food, lots of shooting and music. What more could you ask for?? Oh yea, the rangers minor league club is there, the tulsa drillers. The Ice Oilers hockey club, and horse racing at the fair grounds. Have fun, good ridin. |

Finally, maybe a BadWebber in Tulsa. Get your ass here, I need someone to ride with. Tulsa is a cool little town. Cost of living on the average is cheap. You can spend as much or as little as you want. My wife and I live in the Brookside area(Midtown)(i.e. hot spot). It's like its own community, cool resturants, bars, coffee shops, etc.. There is a lot of bikes in this town. Mostly Harleys and Imports, but a few of my Harley buddies secretly want a streetfighter. I'm about to break them. We have a couple of toy runs each year with about 8-10k bikes. Just call me and we'll talk. 918.814.8654. |

Mike, I have written down your #. This move may or may not happen at this point. I met with the president of our company today (he flew in from Ohio) and we talked a lot. My wife and I will be coming down to visit in the next couple of weeks to see how we like it. I am glad to hear of another Badwebber down there. If I accept the position the transfer will be in the next 3 months. Nice blacked out bike by the way. Drake |

OK, thanks! We are going to be checking out the Broken Arrow area, but would also like to see this Brookside neighborhood. Sounds cool. Career-wise, its gonna be stupid of me not to move down there for this position! I'll keep you updated. |

Drake I would hate to see you go, but I would also hate to see you pass up a great opportunity. Remember Tulsa is only a few hours away, if you do go I see a lot of weekend bike trips south of KC. We need to get the OK, AR, and KS badwebers together for an Arkansas weekend ride. (Message edited by thansesxb9rs on January 28, 2006) |
