Last weekend I went down to Santa Maria Harley to verify if I could still order any Buell parts since they had dropped the line. The answer was no, but they still had some parts in stock to sell. I knew that S.B. Harley down in Camarillo had lost Buell the year earlier so Ventura was going to be my nearest option. Last night, just for the heck of it I ran the locate nearest dealer on the Buell web sight and up pops Santa Barbara Buell Shop. It is in downtown S.B. not anywhere close to the Harley dealer. Any Santa Barbarans know of this place? Weather permitting, I am taking a ride down there this Sunday to find out the skinny on it if it is its own shop or Harley bike/rental affiliation. I gots to know! |

Bertman, I saw this last night myself...just happened to do a search...says it is on State Street right? BTW I just checked with Santa Maria HD and they said they would be able to do some things if they don't require parts or warranty. For example a TPS reset which is one thing I can't do myself...just FYI. I do want to take a ride down to the SB shop you mention and check it out...it is worth a few hours and like you say if the weather is good...it is a nice ride along the coast. |

From what I understand ANY Non-Buell Harley Retailer CAN order Buell Parts if you have the part number. I don't have a retailer here but I always get my Buell Parts when I give the Local Harley Retailer the proper part numbers. The turn around time on the parts is also about 1 week which is not bad considering where I am located. |

Lighthouse Harley on Long Island used to sell Buell stuff. Now they dont and they are not allowed to order parts for me, anything Buell. They told me only Buell dealers can order Buell products. |

Is it possible that the policy is different in Canada because everything up here goes through Deely? ref |

>>>Is it possible that the policy is different in Canada because everything up here goes through Deeley? It is possible. Deeley, at least for now, is the final word on anything that happens in Canada, eh? Fred, like t-shirt Vern Holubeck, was keen enough to cut a pretty neat deal. I am given to believe things are, as they say, "in flux". Our own Ms. D. Fang is part of that process in other countries, me thinks. |

I just called up the S.B. downtown shop and they are strictly Harley-Davidson only. They are the same ownership as the Carpinteria store and do not have Buell. Sorry central coasters. |

That's what I suspected as far as S. B. was concerned. I knew that the Carpenteria store had dropped Buell, so when I heard of the State Street store I just assumed the worst. As far as Ventura (Camarillo) is concerned, I pass them on my way to/from work each day. I know each time I go in there, they have less and less, but they are currently advertising Buells on cycletrader.com and recently saw a guy on a new XB12X with Ventura paper plates on it. So I'd hazzard a guess that Ventura is still in the game. |

Here's what my very reliable parts guy told me. If the Buell part number is of the old Harley-Davidson format (i.e. 17608-00Y) they can get a hold of the parts as many of these are still in use or common H-D parts. It is only the new Buell part numbers that have the new format (i.e. 5202.02A8) that a non-Buell dealer cannot order. If they know you they might try it out. Happy hunting. |
