Now people this is only a joke do not start no 200 page post about it offending someone. Just about PMSL at this: I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really twisting sections of road with no straight sections to speak of and where most of the curves have warning signs that say "15 MPH". I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone. I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and cornering. three corners later, I was on his fender. Catching him was one thing; passing him would prove to be another. Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the mountain. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but when we came out he'd get on the throttle and outpower me. His horsepower was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me more determined than ever. My only hope was to outbrake him. I held off squeezing the lever until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before the road straightens out and he would pass me for good. But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the canyon, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see him in my rear-view mirror. Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more than horspower and deep pockets, I had passed him. though it was not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the canyon and I had preserved the proud tradition of another of America's best bikes. I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedalled so hard in my life. pedalled??? |

My cousins' uncles' brothers friend has a Harley and he is a nice guy. It really bothers me that you posted this in such a degrading manner to Harley owners. Wait a sec, no I don't. That was funny! Good one! Be sure to use that one. |

Interesting story, I think I figured the punch line when you started down the mountain. Great story. I would sent it to Cycle World or American Iron. You never know it may get published and maybe not. |

Zeke - Gonna be in the R.I. in about 2 weeks. Going to a family reunion in Rehobeth Mass. I am thinking Newport one afternoon and family stuff the rest of the time. Which shop did you get your Buell? Precision or the guy in Warwick? |

Probably wasn't a Harley anyways, most of the big HP bikes are aftermarket S&S or "Korea"Tech kit bikes. BTW those guys seem to be the ones with the biggest mouths who shout "buy a Harley" when someone arrives on a Buell. The last one I encountered really didn't like it when I said after looking at his non Harley kit bike, "at least mine is a real Harley, "douche-bag". |

Bill- I got mine from Ocean State HD (the guy in Warwick). They don't sell/service Buells but someone told me they had taken one in trade, so I went down I got it from them. Newport or Providence are both good times, not the best time of year for all the tourist stuff in Newport, but a good time can still be had. |

Funny, one of my co-workers emailed this to me this morning. Before I had a chance to see it on here...I replied to him with..."It would have never happened on a BUELL!!!" I don't think he understood...he rides a peddle bike everywhere. |

An import rider I met at a gas station told me this one: Q: What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? A: The position of the dirt bag.

Similar to... What's the difference between a Corvette and a porcupine? The Corvette has it's pricks on the inside.

Great one. Even better on this site when you think the author is on a Buell. |

Glad you like it! I took that pic two summers ago in Mountainrider's back yard. It's on a hair pin turn on Wolf Pen Gap Road in Suchs GA. |

I have seen bicycles pass cruisers on 129 before. That is a great picture. |

Some of the cruisers are really that slow thorugh the curves- A couple years ago I paced one throught the corners while driving a Mack truck with semitrailer. I probably could have stayed with him when the road straightened out, but the Mack was governed to 62 MPH... |

I used to ride mtn bikes. I had my buddy clock me in a car. I could hit 55mph down some roads. You'd be amazed at how a 18lb bike will handle. For you speed freaks you must try it. The silent sound and the rush of air is awesome. If only you didn't have to pedal back to the top!!! |

The title should have been Harley Rider Joke. It is the slow riders that are the problem. |

You should have seen the looks on the faces of the three guys in a pickup I passed coming down the Apache Trail in AZ. I doubt that they'd ever been passed by a bicycle before. I had timed it just right coming out of a turn with a short straight before the next curve. It was priceless. |
