just make sure you get the spikes, first. i take my buell out only when there's an adhesive dusting of snow on the ice, for traction, and then very gingerly. having the end of my bulel seemingly 'vapourize' from under me, then slamming my hip on the ice really smarts. plus it scares the fish.... |

8'-2" 249 LB East Texas Alligator Gar I think the world record dating back to 1951 is 279LB, for a big Alligator Gar also caught in Texas, but on a fishing line. The one shown above was taken by bow in Lake Sam Rayburn. (Message edited by blake on January 12, 2006) |

I wonder that both that A-Gar and Blue Cat might eat a kid swimming around...especially that Gar. I had a cool link to that enormous Blue cat that a young southern fella had caught, and it was put into a public aquarium where it tamed up. I'll try to find that, I got the article from fur-fish-game magazine, but they eschew the 'net.....god bless 'em.... |

HEY TRAMP every thing realy is bigger in texas It looks a little like the fish that tramp is holding in his pic.. I see the rope, I was attempting to make a joke, You ever see the Discovery show "Dirty Jobs" Rowe went to Oklahoma, to "noodle" some cats with a couple of guys, it was too funny, one of them had a tatoo of a Giant Cat on his bicep with an arm hanging from its mouth.. |

Those pics remind me of a time I went snaggin' spoonbills in the Big muddy with friends as a kid. |

Ice fishing looks scary. I'm sure its because I've spent my whole life living either in So. Cal or Hawaii, but that seriously looks scarier than the s word. If you fall in do you have a chance of getting out without help or no? |

i never 'fell' through, but i've dove under ice (as kids we used to have contests swimming distance between holes under clear ice....terrifying...really, truly, totally terrifying, and no wetsuits) then i had some schooling dealing with ice swimming, which was a joke after my idiotic childhood/adolescence It's not hard to get out, even when it's thin...think about laying flat as you swim out and then 'swim' over the thin, crackling stuff until you're on thick enough to crawl, then walk, etc... like anything else, the absence of panic will save yer kiester |

I cant even surf here in the winter without the latest rubber seamed wetsuits, booties, and a hood ; your crazy. Thats cool though. If I was a fish I'd bite just to get out of the water . |

Get him Jay, he's questioning your judgement! It looked more to me like he was questioning his sanity. As do I. We used to go on Polar bear swims in Northern Ontario, but we were young and usually wasted. |

when I surf, I'm in the water for a LOT more than the 2 or 3 minutes we used to spend flailing around in icy water, so I wear a wetsuit most of the time, as well. wetsuit also saves me from the hell of abraded nips, and adds incredible flotation. I did used to run and swim every night, out in NY's southampton, for over a year, which got zany in jan. & feb. ....NY's atlantic runs much less cold than most of california's pacific, though. |

i typically surf year-round, December gives HI and Ca. some of the very best swels, and NY gets good around now, and great in late autumn. haven't gone yet this year, though, icefishing and 'boarding leave me little time to sh*t OR wind my watch.... maybe when hammer comes to the mountain he can tape some riding footage for badweb. any you sportriding guys see how much alpine (carving) snowboarding resembles roadracing, you'll be all over ebay buying race boards.... |

I like sitting in a hot tub outside when its about 0 degrees farenheit, and then jumping into fresh powder (snow) and rolling around for a bit, then jumping back into the hot tub. Can you say invigorating? |

(seriously, though- JLB: if you and nijagoil wann come out and board {or learn to board}, please take us up on the boarding offer. and I can get youze two into the spa with the jacuzzis, etc., afterward. my 'jamal's bitch' prison ink back-panel prohibits me from enjoying social tubbing...) |

Oldog said "every thing realy is bigger in texas" Not really, Texans are all midgets, so it just seems that way, that's why they all have such huge egos to compensate. (ducks back into turret slams lid shut & hightails for home!) |

Try swimming in the North Atlantic Ocean in May or June. Its TRULY invigorating. After about 4-5 minutes your bones hurt and when you get out you have a MANGINA!!!!!
