ok, i just got a new kodak V530 digicam for xmas. finally got to take some GOOD pics of my bikes to post but the pics are huge. 2576x1932 at 5.0mp. smallest i can go that i have found is 1552x1164 at 1.8mp(thats what it says in the book about it). think the pic quality would suck if i did that anyway though. i know nothing really about this kind of stuff. first digicam. how can i go about shrinking the pics or whatever it takes to be able to post stuff on here. tried looking at some of the info in the picture posting section but doesnt make alot of sense to me. do you HAVE to get a subscription to some of the picture editing sites i have heard of? never looked at one but have heard talk of them on here before. ??????????? |

http://www.tucows.com/preview/397055 I use that...it's Visualizer photo resize. Kinda' wierd learning to use it the first time...but super easy, you can resize a whole folder of pics at once! I use it for my offroading website. |

No_rice - What everyone else said, it's good advice. Thought you might want some background. You said: 2576x1932 at 5.0mp. smallest i can go that i have found is 1552x1164 at 1.8mp Digital pictures are made up of dots arranged in a grid. Each dot is called a pixel. Numbers like 2576x1932 mean 2576 dots horizontally and 1932 dots vertically. If you multiply those numbers together you get something close to 5 million, which is where the 5mp comes from. If you are going to print your pictures on paper, you need a lot of pixels. But if you are going to look at them on a computer you do not. Even 1.8mp is more pixels than almost all computer monitors can display. If you are going to post your pictures on Badweb for us to enjoy, you are limted to pictures that are 700 pixels or less wide and files that are 60000 bytes or less. Take Care - Jim |

you can also resize a photo with Microsoft Photo Editor. I believe it comes with Windows XP if you have it. Just double click on the image then click on image--- then resize--- change size options to pixels and change one of then and it will automatically resize the other dimension. |

www.xat.com jpeg optimizer not only resizes but also compresses areas of pic where there is little detail. On the computer screen the effects are un-noticeable, while file sizes can be cut by 75%. |
