cool thing on the way home from a hard day. i heard a song buy a band called chase, i don't know if anyone ever heard of them, tramp maybe or court. anyway they kinda sound like blood sweat and tears, band from the seventies, they use a lot of brass (i'm a trumpet player) i love that stuff. my dad used to play one of there albums all the time (in the seventies), i know every song word for word and can play some of the trumpet parts. so, i heard this song "get it on" (in the morning) on the way home, what a blast from the past, never would've figured i'd hear it on the radio! all i have is a crappy tape recorded 20+ years ago! there is a wide array of music taste on badweb i'm sure some of you like chase. it's cool to hear stuff you have'nt heard in years . |

Tripp, Bill Chase was awsome! I too am a trumpet player, he makes me sick. He has an unreal upper register range. I actually met him back in 1969 in Chicago. One of they guys in my drum corp knew him. He hung out with us for a while, neat guy. If memory serves, he died in a plane crash. I really love the old "horn bands". If you dig that stuff, you have to check out Cold Blood. They are from the early 70's also. The lead singer is Lydia Pense, great pipes! The horn section used to move between Tower of Power and back all the time. Ggood stuff! |

that must've been cool to meet him, he could definitely hit the high notes! it's a shame he died so young. i too was in drum & bugle corps. when i was younger. my father was director for several corps. in the northeast and florida. i played mellophone and soprano what a great experience, i used to love seeing the big class A dci corps. they would make the stands shake! i still do marching band gigs on holidays for the baystate band here in southeastern mass., it's fun to get out there and bang out j phillip sousa tunes. |

Anybody up for a Buell meeting at the DCI Finals? There's nothing like it in music. Like a big smokey burnout on an S1. DCI Website (Message edited by tripper on December 28, 2005) |

Wow, Madison! That's close! I may just have to go. It's been a very long time.. Tripp, I was in one of those Class A Jr corps! We only had a 45 man horn line but were all schooled in the lost art of "projection". We played to the top row in the stands, not the judges on the field. Our horn line put out more sound than most 70 member lines. Man, what memories... |
