From a strictly mathematical viewpoint it goes like this: What Makes 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 103%? What makes up 100% ! in life? Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions: If: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z is represented as: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 Then: H-A-R-D-W-O-R-K 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11 = 98% ! and K-N-O-W-L-E-D-G-E 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5 = 96% But, A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100% And, B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T 2+21+12+12+19+8+9+20 = 103% AND, look how far kissing will take you. A-S-S-K-I-S-S-I-N-G 1+19+19+11+9+19+19+9+14+7 = 118% So, one can conclude with mathematical certainty that WhileHard work and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will get you there, it's the Bullshit and kissing that will put you over the top. |

That's a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when someone says, "Ya got to give 110%". It just doesn't make sense. I heard someone say, "a million percent", once. Well, that must be a lot better than 110%..., damn. |

DJKap- Actually 110% would be a a pipe cut into 10 slices, and one extra slice of the same size on the side, for good measure. It actually makes sense once you've had to give 110% . Just means bring along an extra slice. Now, were each of those slices of that original pie sliced into ten pieces each, and one of those slivers straddled an S2.... |

Lottery - a tax on people with poor math skills Sickness, eh? I watched a gal buy Twinkies and a 12oz can of Coke for breakfast for a little girl. She used food stamps and then took the change and bought lottery tickets. These POOR folks are busting their asses to finance my roads and lower the school tax I pay. I, owing in large part to my manners, always make it a point to thank them. |

actually, Court, the bulk of state school taxes are paid by real estate owners, much of city school taxes are paid through lottery monies. technically, the lady whom used food stamps for twinkies and coke for the little girl ( ) , then using the change for lottery tix was putting no money of her own earning into either the school tax or the roads. she was merely using monies gifted to her by our system to give the little girl the cheapest, and least nutritious meal, so she could put a fraction of that money (earned by others and gifted to her) back into the lottery in hopes of winning. She's still purely a draw on taxpayers who might benefit from a lesson in nutrition. |

Not too cold down here, either. Took the S2 out for a spin around town yesterday, just to keep the seals wet--I haven't had it out in a while. It was 73 and sunny, all I needed was a sweatshirt, I ended up doing about a hundred fifty miles. I was actually thinking about selling the bike since I've been riding it so little. Well, forget that, now I think I'm inspired to get some paint on it. But that'll have to wait until after the ranchito gathering--that's gonna be Bomber's loaner-bike! rt |

This is same same error (made intentionally by Ronnie Raygun) that in some way a food purchase can result in trading welfare for money. He described someone buying an orange with food stamps, then using the change to buy vodka - this was instantly detected as false 30 years ago. The limit of cash refund for payment by food stamps is $.99. Doesn't buy too many tickets, does it? |

Panic - yes, in a perfect world where everyone follows the rules the limit on change might be $.99. Food stamps are often traded as cash in some communities. They can get passed around as legal tender. Eventually some store owner will redeem it, but not before it has bought a few people a few things, and not all of it is food. |

we have a huge NYC homeless shelter in the greater town in which my hamlet is located. these guys trade food stamps for goods which they sell for cash to shelter residents who have $$$, and they use the cash for liqour. |
