quote:______________ had his first race on a Superbike at Laguna Seca (he was rammed by Mat Mladin--remember?) But he's seen his share of first-rides at the Dry Lagoon. "When I started racing in '95 I rode the Sportster here; I've ridden a Buell around here. Then in '96 we had Harleys again, plus we had (Honda) Supersport bikes. Then the RC45, RC51, now the new 1000, a couple of different modifications of Ducatis ...

Jody Hendley could haul a Sportster around a track better than ANYONE I have ever seen. RIP Jody #188 |

Actually, I thought it was Bostrom, so I did a search on my hard disks with Spotlight. It was a Superbike Planet article that verified my guess. A lot of road racers started with Harley 883s, XR750s or Buells. Remember, Laguna Seca and Sears Point are in my backyard. |

Ben Bostrom also won the 883 race at the Syracuse Mile back in '93. Ever notice how fast dirt trackers tend to be fast road racers, but not the converse? I would love to see Valentino Rossi on an XR 750 at Springfield. He needs a large helping of Humble Pie; and Chris Carr, Jay Springsteen and the rest would be more than happy to hand it to him. |

Come on Crusty, why does Valentino need a large helping of humble pie? Ain't the man one of the best roadracers... EVER? Jim, Quit bragging! You know Texas doesn't even get an AMA race. |
