It was between 25-30 degrees today, but it didn't feel all that cold, so I started out on my bike. I was wearing a heavy shirt, medium weight leather jacket, leather riding pants, boots with 2 pairs of socks, a neck gator, full face helmet, and a pair of gauntlet gloves. Well the gloves proved to be the weak link here because after about 10 miles, I had to turn around since my finger tips felt like they were being smashed with a hammer. I am going to either have to get heavier gear, or accept the fact that the season is over . |

I got some unvented "winter" gloves last season and, although they were heavy and came with liners, they were covered with stitches and seams. They didn't keep my hands warm for long... Get some solid gloves that have minimal stitching in a windproof material. BTW- Removable liners are easy to clean, but a pain to manage... they always come out when you take the gloves off.... |

Eboos, You could get some heated gloves (I got some by Widder that work very well), heated grips, or I wonder if you could adapt the hand guards from a Uly or City Cross to provide some wind protection? |

I'd be pleased as heck to see 30 degrees but the down time can be put to good use -- I'm thinkin hteres a few more things on the MaDeuece that don't really need to be there (bigger grin) |

I have the same problem when riding in the cold. My gloves are the weak spot. I really think the best solution is the citycross handguards for winter riding. |

It was 4 degrees this morning and blowing snow, but I was riding on Monday and it was 10 degrees. I was plenty warm with my Gerbing gear (jacket, pants, gloves, and socks) on. There is just no substitute for heated gear if you want to ride during the winter months. |

Try a set of Aerostich heated grip wraps (only $45 at www.aerostich.com). They're fully removable (or interchangable with an additional plug) and work well. My biggest gripe is the lack of temperature control. They're either on or off (and "on" can get HOT). |

It was 17 this morning but warmed up to about 40. I have a pair of heated glove liners and they are great. Next will be a heated jacket liner. |

I second the vote on hand-guards, Acerbis (i think) makes a set that attach with a zip tie. Master cyl may be in the way, not sure, just looked at them Monday. I wear insulated leather mtc gloves and when it's really bitter, like today, put on latex gloves as an under-layer. Just my $.02. |

It was -3 there this morning, all I get to do is look at my bike, now. It's supposed to get up to 35 this weekend but with all the snow we've had, it'll be a slush bowl so no riding for me. |

Two of my riding friends have heated gear that they bought at the BMW dealership. They claim it's the best money they've ever spent because they ride pretty late into the season because of it, SV650 and ZX10. |
