I guess the real question is... Does this apply to the Blast too?? It appears to ba a XB and Sportster only thing. James |

If you've been using the old torque specs and they working, I'd not bother to use the higher values. I use small SS brush (found with the welding supplies) to clean all residue from both the nut and the threads on the shaft. Then I degrease them with aerosol carb cleaner and let them air dry before putting the LocTite on. |

For your sake, tighten the nut to the new torque specs. Things can go wrong quickly once things start rattling around in there. Trust me on this. |

Ditto on what Dago said. I have been doing that tourqe spec for the last 3 years with two drops or red locktight... |

Okay, but I need to get a new torque wrench. Have had mine off and back on twice and no problems yet (knock on wood). Jack |

That's kinda like justifying not wearing a seat belt or a helmet cause you haven't had any need to so far. |

Get a new wrench, it isn't a pretty site when that nut backs off. Besides a think a new wrench is cheaper than a new crank assembly an re-build gasket kit |

the notice is specific to 03 and later, would no should older engines be tightened to the new spec? |

Okay, I missed the fine print. I'm home free without having to buy a torque wrench. I have a 2000 M2. Jack |
