A quick question about something I don't think can be right. I bought a bike the other day. Harley is running some sort of no interest & no payments till April promotion, and I was planning on taking advantage of that. When I start filling out the paper work the fiance guy at the dealership says "wait, I'm not sure this offer applies to Buells." So he calls up the Harley fianancing people to ask. He does this on speaker phone, so I can hear the conversation. The first thing that supprises me is that the woman he is talking to doesn't know the answer. She goes through some papers and notes that it says Harley and not Buell, and concludes that it must not apply to Buells. I'm skeptical. I think Harley is smarter than that. Does anyone know about this offer and it's applicability to Buells? |

Harley-Davidson Inc. Is the parent company to subsidary companies, Harley-Davidson Motors, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Buell Motorcycles, Harley-Davidison Financing, Harley-Davidson Motor Clothes/Accesories. It goes something like that any how. So each company is some what independant. There for it is posable that each may have its own promotion/sale that does not apply to their other subsidaries(brand). |

Not really sure about that promotion..? You might ask Daves for more details. I know that Buell is running a 0 Down promo right now through December 31st. |

Danny, You've added a few too many "Harley-Davidson..." subsidiaries; there are only two. The following is from the 2004 HDI annual report: quote:Harley-Davidson, Inc. is the parent company for the group of companies doing business as Harley-Davidson Motor Company (HDMC), Buell Motorcycle Company and Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS). HDMC produces heavyweight motorcycles and offers a complete line of motorcycle parts, accessories, apparel and general merchandise. HDMC manufactures five families of motorcycles: Touring, Dyna Glide, Softail,® VRSC and Sportster.® Buell Motorcycle Company produces sport motorcycles, including five v-twin XB models and the single-cylinder Buell® Blast.® Buell also offers a line of motorcycle parts, accessories, apparel and general merchandise. HDFS provides wholesale and retail financing and insurance programs primarily to Harley-Davidson/Buell dealers and customers. The Company operates in two principal business segments: Motorcycles and Related Products (Motorcycles) and Financial Services (Financial Services).
I thought there was a distribution company too, but it must fall under the purview of one of the above. |

No, Buell Distribution Corporation. At one time, Buell MOTORCYCLE Company developed and manufactuered motorcycles. Every motorcycle built was sold the moment it rolled through the East door to Buell DISTRIBUTION Corporation, a wholly owned unit of Harley-Davidson, with Mike Hilman as President. Buell DISTRIBUTION performed all business functions (advertising, transporation, B.R.A.G., warranty, customer service, dealer meetings, t-shirts and accessories) that was manufacturing. This may have changed since the last 2% of the stock changed hands. |

ah, Buell Distribution Center - BDC still exists as an entity though it falls under one of the other legal entitities. however, i do know that Buell specific advertising, BRAG, warranty, customer service, t-shirt, p&a, etc. are all in HDMC now. |
