What the heck, life is not always funny. Instead of sneaking away through the back door, my beloved style in such occasions, I feel obliged to give an explanation to so many friends at Badweb. My days are numbered, and so are yours, but I know that the number of my days is only very low. Life expectation two till five months, and two months souped up already. It started during late summer with cardiac irregularities, which were provoked by lung cancer. Both sides and activity in both suprarenal glands. Yes: Second opinion by the big shot on this subject, but same advise: Only palliative chemotherapy to make the rest of life more bearable. Gone to that trapdoor and believe me: It is not that bad. Thanks for all that friendship during the years. Goodbye, Hans |

Hans, I read somewhere that endings and never happy but it's the experiences along the way that make life good. I hope that the small part of your experience that the folks on this board have been part of have made it great ride. God's speed. Steve |

Hans, about three weeks ago it came to my attention that I hadn't seen you post for a while. Turns out I was wrong because I searched your name to see when you last posted. Seems I'd missed you post in a thread I'd not followed, but your posts have been few compared to normal. I was wondering if all was well or not and thinking of asking. Now I know. I'm 44 now and the wisdom of my years tells me one gets wiser as one get older. As my elder I've listened over the years to your advice when indeed you've offered it. I know there have been times when you and I have perhaps not seen eye to eye but I've always regarded you as a man of much integrity. After all history alone tells us that you have lived through a lot in your lifetime and I'm sure you've earned the status you deserve. I offer you my deepest respect my distant friend and I shall not forget you. My saddened heart go's out to you and yours Hans Be as well as you can and live what you have left to the fullest. Dang! I hate news like this. Hans, I know I don't know you, but please accept my sympathy and support. May the miles you have left be pleasant, the sun shine gently on you and your road, both here and beyond, be free of sand and cages. |

Knowing you're going gives you time to reflect on life and adjust where things are at. Not everyone gets this chance or gift to know when they will go. The disease or condition is not the gift, the knowledge of when is. Most of us have known you as a friend, though we've never met in person, a friend just the same. God speed my friend, pave the way for those of us who will follow. |

Hans, Thanks for all your wisdom you’ve imparted over the years (and not only concerning Buell Motorcycles, here on BWB). Also for the picture you sent me years ago. Someday, if our little site comes back, I’ll make sure it gets posted there. For now, here it is again: 2000 M2 CycloneOwner / Photographer - Hans IdzerdaBilthoven, Utrecht the Netherlands Hans “took this shot around Soesterberg, former American Airforce base of the F15 Eagles, exactly in the center of the Netherlands.” Hopefully we’ll meet on some celestial shores one day.
God bless, Steve(2) |

Hans, don't know ya but I've followed your words here. I have a close friend who is fighting the same battle. She's not going down easy and neither should you. Make all the days count and go in peace. JB2 P.S. Rocket, don't get here much anymore but it was great to see you back in the mix. I've missed your Limey take on things. |

Hans -- friends are now available for the asking not only through face-to-face encounters, but throught the wires of networks as well -- thank you for your words and thoughts over my years here at Badweb -- you've been a fine member of this community, which lets me know that you're equally valued, likely moreso, in the real world -- bless you in all senses of the word, and know that you continue to make a difference |

Damn. It hasn't been that long since we had to say farewell to Team under unfortunately similar circumstances. Hard to know what to say...other than to assure you that your Buell brothers and sisters will be thinking about / praying for you. |

Damnit! @#$% &^#%@ I @#$% HATE cancer! Hans, Thank you for letting us know your situation. Always thinking of others. You are a man among few who I have come to respect deeply, admire and cherish in the most profound ways. Your wisdom and counsel have always been honest and true, and always delivered with kindness, good humor, and respect, never ever divisive, always as a friend. You've made a very real positive impact in my life. You might be surprised by how many friends and family I've told about the really cool guy from Nederland who amazingly saw fit to grace our little online community with his wisdom, advice, insightful stories and tales of moto adventure. But even given all that, I'd still like to take advantage of you one time further. Referring to your user profile, I say screw it, time to confess your top speed on two wheels. Hans, this may embarrass you, but I'd like for you to have your own page here on BadWeB in honor of you and your life and your positive contributions to us all. If that is okay with you, what if anything would you like to include there? God bless you Hans. You are a man of very rare and priceless character, and it is going to hurt like hell to lose you in this world. Please keep in touch and let us know if there is ANYTHING at all we can do to make more special your remaining time with us here on Earth. |

I never know what to say in situations like this. I am saddened by the news but am very hopeful that good will come from it. Keep your chin up, someone has much bigger plans for you. Thanks for all the insight you have brought to this board. Friends are hard to come by, but much harder to lose. |
