I know Hoban Brothers wanted to "borrow" a Uly from Appleton HD that weekend... |

Actually for the 3 hour at Koshkonog (sp?), but depending on the class's maybe. This race is set up a little different. Koshkonog is more of a super motard type race that I believe gets more exposure?? This racing weekend is a bit more flat track I believe... But hell, if we get a bike. Our old saying goes "if somebody is burning fuel, we want to be the ones burning it!" |

Koz, Hot to hijack this thread, but I know we talked about our roadrace bike last year and never seemed to hook up. How about this year, Terry D (Appleton HD/Buell owner) said he is in for another year, so I guess we are going racing, he kind of said I had too, would you like to sticker up the bike this year? I am patiently awaiting the word from Dave to say "start studding up a set of 17", I got a Uly for you guys!" I have our team all set up, National AMA dirt trackers and myself of course, all we need is Dave. I am going to the factory on Wed., should I put one on your tab Dave?? |

I think you should stud the tires on the '04 race bike and put 'er on the lake!

Speak of tire studs...what do you guys use? I'm thinking of studding some tires on a Blast. It should make for an interesting ride on the ice |

screws, #12x 1-1/4" tried running the sportster on ice ONCE, ran about 400 #10 machine screws through from the inside, hex-nutted them on the outside, took it down the road, and out on the lake. hooked up ok, but i did not have the balls to get out of second gear.i ran it up to 70 mph a few times, but it was just too scary, so i took them off and parked it till spring. The XR250 is more my speed on the ice. dean |

A little different system than those screws. There are actually 2 companies (probably more)that make a specific screw that has something like a sheet metal screw top to it that you screw into the knobs and through the tire into a liner. We have ours tires assembled by a fellow in Milwaukee. There is a art in how deep, what angle and how many. My ice tires for my Yamaha have almost 1000 screws in the rear tire alone. If we do the Uly (which is sounding pretty good) we will use 17" tires and try to use the entire stock set up just so we can say we own ALL the corners, including the ice! I also got a call last night to be a Monkey for the side car races in the World Championships! It will be hard to turn that one down, jury is out, but it is my wifes birthday on the 15th. |

Hi guys, If there is a Uly to be ridden on the ice I think I have to be there. I bet the cold temps we've gotten will get me on the ice next weekend in Mukwonago at Phantom Lake. I'll have to get my XR's studs back on this week. |

I dont know Greg, it seems a bit early, even up here... Last year it was just before Xmas before I got on the ice. It is cold though, we are make ice, but there are open spots on the river and it is no where near safe yet. Would you want to ride Uly with Jeff in the 3 hour if I do not? I may ride with Bryan Bemisderfer or Jess Roeder, too early to tell yet. Good to see you on the board Greg! |
