Well thanks to everyone that gave advice about my bike purchase. I have just sent in the deposit for a New (0 miles) 04 Buell XB12R. i am having the wheels chromed, DrummerSS exhaust, Buell race ECU and high performance air cleaner installed. i hope it is all ready by the time i come home on vacation next month. i work overseas so when i get vacation i go home. I will give it a couple nice and gentle rides then put it up until the spring. Future projects will include replacing the wind screen, polishing the frame, getting some carbon and possibly NHRS engine modifications. the ultimate look of the bike i hope will be all Black Carbon with shiny bits around. ill post pics as the project progresses, it will be a slow process since im only home for a couple weeks every 3 months or so. thanks again, see you on the road. Smooth move. Congratulations. Even though they are brand new, you might want to think about replacing the Dunlops with better tires like Michelin Pilot power, Pirelli Diablos or Metzler M-1 after you get the unit broken in. Makes that much difference that it is worth it. Anyway the Dunlops will be half cooked at a 1000 miles anyway. |

Congrats again. I don't get the Dunlop bashing, over and over again. This bike was proclaimed by a motorcycle publication as the "worlds best handling bike" and on what tires? Most other publications generally agree on the XBRs outstanding cornering ability. Dunlops again. A LOT of people who frequent this site will shop for ever to save a few pennies and post that they buy cheap stuff instead of "factory approved" items. I seriously doubt any of them took off new Dunlops and switched them out for tires they bought until they had cord coming out of the Dunlops (gotta get every last cent out of them). Don't let these people queer you out of a good time with your new bike and try to get you to do something they didn't do. And Yes, I have tried almost all the other brands as I am in the motorcycle industry and we are NOT a Dunlop dealer. I even have other brands on some of my bikes and have ridden bikes since the mid 60s I believe that we all have different opinions and should express then until it turns into a major bashing. Someone once told me "opinions are like arseholes*, everybody has one and most of them stink" *thanks to our brothers across the pond |

Tim, change those tires out ASAP! They are junk! You don't want to put fifty miles on them. Better safe than sorry. Oh, I forgot, you can ship them to me for proper disposal. I won't even charge you. |

Tim, The stock dunlops are fine, well maybe not in Fairport in December (I rode Friday 30 and snowing) Pilot roads suck in the snow, like every other tire I've ridden in the white stuff on Let me know when you're back in town Later Matt |
