I've never been really "into" music, I just turn on the radio and listen. The problem is they don't play any good stuff anymore. And I know that doesn't mean I'm getting old. I finally snapped. I went to the CD store and bought a Laura Branagan collection because I wanted to listen to Gloria with the volume turned all the way up. I find the CD, get it home, and realize I don't own a CD player. I eventually managed to find and old banged up Barbie CD player in my daughters bedroom. It worked. And Laura made my life good for an afternoon.

You listened to Laura Branagan on your kids Barbie CD player? Yes, it does mean you're getting old. |

I think we need to figure out how to mount it on the bike so you can enjoy your music on the road. Hey, a man that can mount a Barbie radio on his motorcycle is a real man. At least that's what they tried to tell me last year when my daughter's soccer team I was coaching got Pink shirts. Oh course I wouldn't wear pink so Kristi got me a gray "Coach" tee-shirt. All was cool until my daughter notice as I was tying her cleats that the manufacturer of my shirt was SoccerMom Inc. I failed to read the small print! |

I thought Gloria was performed by Van Morrison? Van Morrison does have a song called Gloria, but it's not the same one. I learned this searching for the one I wanted at the CD store. I still want to call it a record store ... |

Jim, We need to talk :-( My entire Thundering Herd are currently full-time educational devotees in your general area -- I can find you another device to play some CD's. The girls got you bracketed between Chapel Hill and State so I think we can fix this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LMAO G2 |

Actually I believe it was the Shadows of Night who did it first. 1965 or 66.

G2 - You've got a daughter at NCSU? Thats right down the street from me. I rode the Blast to Chapel Hill on Sunday. Parked it in front of the planetarium and went in search of food on Franklin St. |

>>>> it was the Shadows of Night who did it first. 1965 or 66. That (coming from a person who played it about a thousand times on a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker) is an accurate statement. |

Shadows were a great Chicago Band -- not so sure they were the first, though -- this may require further research |

http://www.tsimon.com/shadows.htm Things happened so fast back then. A fella named George Ivan Morrison the lead singer of Them wrote the song. It was a B side for them. Later after the shadow of night, Van (as he then called him self)Morrison released it. I guess you can learn something new every day. Now I can go back to sleep (NOT).

Jlance, you need to get a satellite radio receiver and splurge for the service. I prefer Sirius as they have one channel (out of 180) that only plays only 80's stuff. I have to admit that I failed to see the necessity of satellite radio, until I got one....... |
