Just got off the phone with a friend who says he rode some special edition Ulyses with more power and goodies, the damn cordless died before I could pry anymore details out of him. But he may have been pulling my leg... ( If he wasn't, remember you heard it here first!) |

Bigblock, what part of the world was he calling from? U.S. or Europe or elsewhere? |

If I remember correctly, part of the original roll-out of the Uly mentioned additional accessories to be added later. They included a GPS system and heated grips. Also a taller windscreen. Maybe that's what you're buddy rode. |

Those accessories are still in the works as far as I know, but are in the pipeline for the near future. No real accessories for the Uly yet except the bags & trunk. |

This is a bike not released yet, I believe he said something about how we'll find out in a month or so. He insisted that it had a more powerful engine and raved about the incredible throttle response. He mentioned a horsepower figure that I will not repeat here, as I find it rather difficult to believe, and is what made me wonder if he was pulling my leg, as he is a Buell and motorcycle guy from waaay back. He is on the west coast, I really can't say more than that, that's all he told me. If nothing comes up in a month or two, than I guess it was nothing. |

I just talked to my friend in CA again, and ?´clarified the explanation of what he rode... The Ulysses was a bone stock bike, the trick bike that he rode was a PROTOTYPE of an XB limited Edition that they apparently are NOT going to produce, it was an XB1340, he described it as a real monster with a ton of power and " all the bells and whistles" He said he thought 139 horsepower( He seemed to think at the crank) and he said it was very fast. He has a hayabusa with a pipe, so he knows fast. He seemed to think they made about 10 of them, but it will not see production. Ah well, that would have been nice, but he said they would have to charge about 20,000 $ if they sold them. Again, I expressed my disbelief, but he insisted this wa strue, that this was not an aftermarket bike, but an actual Buell prototype. Again, I have not seen this machine, so this is second hand, but certainly very believable, after all, what have so many of us been asking for for so long now, too bad it appears they won't give it to us yet... |

Hayabusa with a pipe.......? As if a pipe alone makes any real changes to the bike. Now say Busa+Turbos then i will understand. Hell maybe even mention some NOS and then i will ge the point. |

OK, Whatever, I guess a Hayabusa is just plain slow unless it has nitrous or a turbo, and pretty much everyone from CA is smoking crack, didn't ya know? How about a built LS6 on nitrous, smokin' the 10 inch slicks while accelrating past 120 mph ? That enough horsepower for ya? That 600 of yours should smoke any wimpy non- blown hayabusa in a dragrace, right Jeremy? Anyways, I was just passing along an interesting story about Buells, atleast it was interesting to me. You certainly don't need to believe it, I am somewhat sceptical meself. BUT, it sure doesn't seem too far-fetched, I bet these Buell engineers LOVE building stuff like this, and I would think they end up getting rode around, too. We've all heard rumors of a revo- powered XB, why not a 1340 hi-po version, makes a lot more sense than revo power! |

I too thought the 'Busa with a pipe statement was funny. Not to say a 'Busa isnt fast on its own, but to say because he put a pipe on it that he now knows about fast. Not a big deal, just the way it comes across in text.

Just text, I guess, I was just trying to make a point, like he doesn't just ride baggers or a VW bug, I doubt too many people on This board have rode anything too much faster than that, not really a whole bunch of turboe'd Busas or nitrous zx10's being claimed to be owned by very many guys on This board. I hear what ya sayin', though. Heck, the quickest bike I rode was a 88 inch 4 speed evo sportster that was very built, and the fastest bike I rode was a massaged RC51, no great claims to land speed records there! ( it'samazing how much QUICKER that sporty was than the RC51, that thing was an unmanageable BEAST!) Besides, I was just passing along an interesting story, which I SAID to take with a grain of salt, and just trying to make a point, has this board just become a platform for taking potshots at everyone these days? I better get down off my soapbox now... cuz I think I'm puttin ya'll to |

I appreciate your comment too BB. It's not that many years ago that Erik Buell was seen riding around on a turbo S1. If memory serves, Court I believe once said Erik attended HD's 100th on it. It's an amazing world. Fess up Court Rocket |

I am pretty sure that Court couldn't say anything, whether or not he knows anything. I think the hardest thing about knowing something BIG, you can't really say anything if you want to keep in the loop. |

>>>Court I believe once said Erik attended HD's 100th on it. That's inaccurate. The event was a wedding wherein two Buell owners married each other on the steps of 3700 Juneau during the HD 95th shindig. HD Media arranged for Erik and I to escort the couple. Following the ceremony, we led them to the Capital Drive HD parking lot and the "reception" was a BattleTrax event. Cool beans, it was. |

Now, 260 is definitely F A S T ! ! ! And, apparently, turbo S-1's ARE fun! Of course, we'd all LIKE Court to spill the top secret insider info, but KNOW full well , "if" he has any secrets, that he can't. Waaugh! However, that doesn't mean we can't try and squeeze any juice from the orange, heheheheh... |

So what's wrong with $20,000? That's what Ducati is charging for a 999R that has about the same claimed HP. Build a few hundred (or just a few dozen) of that version with carbon-fibre everything and a 425 lb wet weight, and then build another version in larger numbers that's a bit toned down, without all the trick bits and maybe 100-110 RWHP and sell it for $13,000-14,000. I think they would go, and most important, they would have a 'halo effect' for the cheaper models. Just the fact there was at least one Buell model available that really had the performance to shut them up would do the company's rep as a whole a world of good. |

999R cost ya THIRTY grand. MV Agusta f4 Tamburini cost ya FOURTY FIVE grand. the Jamie James special edition R1 cost ya 38. and the Limited Edition Factory R1 cost ya 18. If ANY Buell came with 150+hp I'd EASILY plop down 20grand for one. |

I was once interested in a super duper S1 of sorts, but in a few short years the technological advancement of motorcycles has left Buell behind. Sure Buell can bring to market great ideas too but when you pay $45000 for that MV Tamburini you're buying nearly 200mph of moving throttle bodies and f.i that's more Ferrari F1 than sit-on lawnmower. I just don't see where Buell would sit in this superbike super high tech market segment. $45000 buys you a very very special and very trick motorcycle. If you could buy a $45000 Buell what do you think Buell could do to make a Buell worth that much? Rocket |
