Im a rider and not a wrencher so help me out here guys. i am getting ready to order a new buell and am looking for the trickest and most worth while mods i can make. it may sound bad but money isnt really an issue ive been working in baghdad for over two years now. most important to me are the engine mods what out there is worth the money and gives the best results? then comes wheels, tires, intake, exhaust, sliders, bar mirrors, and have not decided on exchanging the swing arm for a chain drive. any and all help will be great. cool pics wont hurt either. thanks |

To modify a brand new bike which has been designed and tested by the manufacturer at the cost of millions of dollars can have results that could be disappointing. The more extensive the modifications are, the more probable that disappointment may result from the mods. That is not to say that you should not personalize the bike so that you enjoy it more. Only that you can actually lose power, reliability and safety quite easily. In short, ride her for a while before ya do anything. jmho. |

Just pick up your bike at NHRS right by the Buell dealership and get a full warrentee as well - lol - if money where no object - that would be my only plan! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

If you still overseas you can order your bike through the Exchange New Car Sales Program through the BX. You will get a 5 year extended warranty automatically. Its a sweet deal. I bought a cruiser just before coming back to the states. I saved about $2000 and got the 5 year included. |

Send the bike to Cycle-Rama and tell them what you want. You'll get a fair deal and a reliable high performance Buell motorcycle. |

"Cycle-Rama"...why is it that every galderned performance specialist in the BIZ seems to cater to 1/4 mile performance??? Is it because of the undersquare torque properties of the H-D engine?Weren't our Buells designed for uhh...CORNERS as well? In creating these big inch engines' are we detracting from the delivery characteristic the machine was designed to deliver? I say....ride the Ba&%s off it and then, maybe consider engine mods.Although,i'd just buy a bike engineered for the power delivery i desired. Just go buy a hayabusa if horspower is what lights your fire. Uhh,does this mean i'll be flamed till i cry now? |

Gentleman, gentleman, may we all calm down and answer the future brother's questions? Perhaps I should start, shall I? 1. If you are more interesting in riding than wrenching, I would suggest starting out with the Buell Factory Race kit. That provides more horse power, and it is good to go right from the git go: no tuning required and you can get it from your dealer, installed when you pick up the bike. If you care to double your investment, a Stainless Steel Drummer muffler is a nice addition. You can get more horse ponies, but unless you want to spend a lot of time fooling with it, and it sounds like you don't, you might want to wait until you see if the race kit gives you the power you need. Unless you are going to be drag racing, it probably will. 2. Wheels: Pretty hard to beat the factory wheels, especially the front as they carry the patented brake rotor and nothing is lighter or stops better on the street. Nothing keeping you from stripping, polishing, and/or power coating and chrome plating 3. Tires. Don't even mess with the Dunlop tires that come on the bike. Replace them with the Michelin Pilot Powers: steer better, last longer, grip better. 4. Sliders: Get the Buell Factory "Frame Pucks" and the alloy front fork and swing arms sliders from Dark Horse. 5. Do NOT go chain, unless you are going to use the bike exclusively for racing. The new belt is very reliable, lighter and therefore faster than a chain, no maintenance, and is smoother. 6. Bar mirrors. Lots of choices, none work better than the ones you can get at the local bicycle shop for $10. And here is the best news: you can order the whole thing from one of our sponsors, Daves, at Appleton HD. - see the sponsor section. Daves is one of the country's top Buell salesmen, and one of the nicest guys around. He rides a 12R very quickly, spends a lot of time on the track, and can not only get you a great deal on a bike, but can recommend and install most of the accessories you will be needing. just my .02¢ |

Thanks a lot guys. lots of great information to digest. my main issue is being able to keep up on the straights. i know the Buell a little and have read and spoken to people about its cornering abilities. so to answer one of the above questions no i do not want to go in just a straight line. i have ridden my softtail through the malibu canyons scraping pipes the whole way i do love the twisties just want the best bang for my buck and still keep the heart and soul of a harley. keep the advice coming. |

"Cycle-Rama"...why is it that every galderned performance specialist in the BIZ seems to cater to 1/4 mile performance???" My guess would be that the 1/4 mile venue showcases the motor's output more than most other venues. BTW... they, and other good shops would build a motor to the performance specs YOU ask them to. "In creating these big inch engines' are we detracting from the delivery characteristic the machine was designed to deliver?" My Cycle-Rama motor is stock displacement and has "very nice" power delivery characteristics, thank you. Again, they build what you ask for. Also, my motor is as strong as the day it took it out of the shop. The bottom end has never been apart, and I have well over 50,000 miles on it. Steve |

Cycle-Rama can also build you a land speed record holding engine.. So not just a 1/4 mile. But in reality. Just get a Buell race kit (exhaust, ECU, air filter all designed by Buell), better tires, mirrors and ride the heck out of it. If you just want to drop alot of cash.. Then just have Cycle-Rama pick up your new bike and let them do the magic to the heads and give you a bullit proof valve train. Good for power and relabilty. |
