Well it’s been a busy week without a chance to keep you up to date, so let’s catch up. I believe we left off in Melbourne. Time for a quick jaunt to another Aussie city. The Airbus A380 was following me from Singapore to Melbourne, due to arrive at any minute. All these folks on the sky view terrace were awaiting its arrival. Our airplane took off ahead of it so we did not see the A380 land. Upon arrival in the next city, we took care of our business…. Took in a lunch downtown and quickly visited the beach, in full business suits and briefcases… Admired the local transit…. Time to guess the city. (this can’t get much easier) |

Tripper: It was on a weekend and I missed your reply to my Orchard Road recommendation, sorry, and yes, you were to look for something else. In it's most agreeable state, it's kinda like Sharks Fin and Ducks Foot...squishy. I wish I were traveling with you! I'd have gladly given up turkey for a jaunt through SE Asia and Australia. Carry on, you're doing a great job! rt |

That evening we returned to Melbourne and the next day we had more customer visits at the Melbourne airport. Upon arrival at the airport the crowds were forming again in anticipation of the departure of the A380. So we camped out on the departure end with a few hundred other airplane nuts. It really is BIG.

On to the next destination. Entering the Melbourne airport I noticed a motorcycle friendly sign that I have seen nowhere else. The next destination is on this sign, but now is a time for relaxation. Barfbags used to be so colorful. The wing of the B777 seems to go into eternity. Getting closer. Arrival hall. The city logo… And they mean it… You must have it by now… If you ever get here you have to try the oysters. Guesses? |

Time for a big move requiring an ultra long range airplane. I’ll give you a couple of in transit clues to give you a direction. 13 hours later we land in Hong Kong (second time this trip) …. To connect with another ultra long range airplane… which will land 11 hours later in London, to connect for a third leg of 5 hours. The last Concorde, on display at LHR and finally land in our next destination. Arrival hall. The history is deep and complex here. After 35 hours in airplanes and terminals this view out my hotel window was welcome. Leave the sliding window open and take a long nap. Any guesses yet? |

retract that I don't think you can fly London to Cairo in 5 hours commercial.... Algiers, Tripoli, or ...... what a trip Dave! |

Hi Sammy, score two points for Adelaide and Auckland! Negative on the Cairo. Very close.... You need more clues. The "complex hitory" involves multiple religions. (Well that pretty much excludes you now don't it?) Try these pics from multiple cities, so give me the country name. Views from J********. The newly walled city of B********.

Time to leave Israel for the final 2 legs to JFK, then the short hop to Buffalo Finally a real old fashioned barfbag! Progress seems slow on a 12 hour leg. FL 400. A new personal record. On approach to JFK the aircraft makes an odd turn. This can’t be good. Two holding circuits, and the decision is made to divert to Bradley Intl for refueling. Oohhhhhh the pain… It takes 90 minutes to put a “splash” of fuel in a 777. The connection is made to jetBlue, and arrival at Buffalo is made with a full days cushion prior to Thanksgiving Day. This is the most important rendevous of the trip!

From the oven to the cooler. Snow on Turkey Day! 37,000 air miles 80 hours of flight time (not counting diversions) Several new friends Not a bad way to spend 18 days! - The end - |
