My dreams have come true... For those of you who don't know me, my name is Wade Haughton. Fairly new to Badweb, but most of y'all know my Dad...the infamous Ferris Bueller...:c) I've grown up around bikes, courtesy of my father's life-long passion for them. I've always loved motorcycles, but have never owned one before. I've been struggling of late, wanting to find a bike that I would enjoy AND be able to comfortably control, being a first time sportbike rider. So my hunt took me far and wide, and I considered EVERYTHING...SV 650's, YZF'S, CBR's...you name it. But in the end it came down to three things; friendship, support and memories. In everything I've seen of the motorcycle world, nothing compares to the community of passionate riders that has evolved from a love of Buells. By friendship and support, I mean all the things that makes Buell riders stand out. Genuine concern for one another, organizing great group rides, donating a bedroom to someone in need and helping riders who reqire instant mechanical advice. Buell owners care! And by memories, I mean MY memories. Everything in my life motorcycle wise has been Buell. The old days of PACBOG, SPLASH and Blue Groove, to Battle2win and the evolution of Badweb, to sitting on the back of my Dad's bike as he popped a wheelie and I hung on for dear life!! So while everything else looked alright, I couldn't resist the primal urge that radiated from within as I fathomed the thought of ACTUALLY owning a Buell! Courtesy of Badwebbers across the U.S. I was directed to THE MAN in Appleton, Dave Stueve. From everything everyone has ever told me about him, I knew I wanted MY Buell to come from that man. LOOOOONNNNNNGGGG story short, as of today I have a 2005 City X in Hero Blue, sitting in Appleton, waiting for my rear-end to cut a groove in the seat. Dave was AWESOME, as expected, and gave me a generous price cut off the MSRP, is reserving the bike for me in their heated warehouse, and is waiting to start the factory warranty until the bike is in my hands (I'm still in Korea for 3 months)!! I am by far the HAPPIEST man on the planet as I post this! I love Buells, love what they stand for, and courtesy of great people like Dave, I finally own one! It's an awesome feeling, and I can't wait to see a lot of you Badwebbers out there on the hardtop!! (Message edited by spreadem on November 05, 2005) |

Welcome Wade. Just remember that the "friendship and support" that you have experienced from the Buell community has a lot to do with the character of the man that attracts it. I only know your Dad from the posts that I've read and from what I can tell, if you follow his lead, you will attract all that friendship and then some. Hey wait a minute....did I just say Ferris was a character? |

Congratulations!! You are going to love it. I've had my XB9SL for about a month now. I'm riding it every chance I get. I haven't even started my FXR2 since I got the Buell. Hope the next three months go fast for you. |

Congratulations soldier! Way cool of you to share the event with all of us too. Do we have a new Battle Trax master in the making? The student becomes the master? Only fair that Dad should have to ride on back with you for at least one good outing of twisty road mayhem. |

Thanks all, I'm happy... FJ - Yeah, I'm just as verbose as my Dad when it comes to writing, dunno if that's good or bad! I guess we'll see how much more he and I have in common when I get on the bike :c) TSI - In Korea serving with the U.S. Army...COOOLLLDDD right now, snow pics to be posted soon! Oldog - I guess if I'm in the Army I could be "Foxtrot Bueller"..lol... Blake - It would be awesome to see my Dad trying to keep up with me :c)...although I freely admit that at 80 years old he'll probably still give me a run for my money! I'll probably be on a lot more in the coming weeks, gotta lot a questions for everyone about the bike and the best way to set it up...really looking forward to the BADWEB input! Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome, just proves again what I stated in my earlier post: Buell owners ARE a notch above the rest! |

Wade- BluzM2 & I rode with your dad for a few days in Arizona last april, then I met up with him on his epic ride to the Field of Dreams. My advice...run as fast and far away as you can! Just kidding, he's a super guy and one of those that you can really be happy to call a friend. It has been great to run into the many father/son combos in our group. My son rode with me to visit Newfie two summers ago, a trip that I'll remember for life. Maybe when you make it back to the States we can have a 'Father/son ride'. Mike |

Mike, We'll have to wait for my son to finish his hitch! Unless we can time it for when he's on leave! |

Wade, Are you going to be back when Ferris does the Deal's Gap ride? If so, maybe we could do a Father/Son ride then. |
