Gonna have to travel to S.Illinois this weekend. Father is having emergency surgery on Tuesday morning. Will be traveling from central North Carolina. Havn't planned a route yet, most likely NC-TN-KN-ILL. But that is open. Probably leave either Friday afternoon, or early Saturday morning. Just looking for a place to rest my head that is warm. JIM |

Any BadWeBrs willing to help a fellow Bueller? Jim, You might take a look in the Rider's Assistance Network (RAN) page. Plenty of locals in those parts methinks. |

Jim -- if Northern ILL work, you're always welcome (bout 30 mikes north of Chicago) prayer wheels on high-speed-auto for your dad |

Hey fellow riders, I appreciate the sentiments. Should have been more clear and stated that a place to rest my head on the trip there! I'll be staying at my fathers house upon arrival. Bomber-thanks, but I'll actually be in Belleville(east St. Louis). Rubberdown-I might have to stop in and twist your arm. Lord knows after that much time on the bike, my butt will be screaming_LOL Thanks buddy |

Route has been changed to a definate. Thanks to Carlos(M2nc) and his wife Kristi. I will be leaving sun-up Saturday, head to Winston Salem, hit 52 north(looks like a fun road, M2 says it is a "kick in the pants", can't wait.) 52-I-64 straight into Belleville.(the long boro=ing part) Gotta go get some rest! Thanks to all, and I'll try to get some picture's along the way. Dad is waiting with his Sportster for a Sunday ride, hope he can continue riding afterwards. He is strong and hard headed, like me, or vice versa I guess. We don't go down without a fight!! Keep us in your thoughts! JIM |

Godspeed was correct! Made it here safely at about 10:30 last night, left yesterday at about 8:00 am. B-E-A-Utiful riding weather until I got about three mile from Belleville and the bottom fell out. Carlos, I enjoyed 52, if it were'nt for the speed zones that road would be perfect riding. Thanks! Dad seems to be in good spirits, were gonna go for a ride this afternoon, a bit chilly out now but that is what the gear is for. JIM |

Thanks guys. As you can tell by the time of posting I am up late, worried. Dad is in his room w/wife and is going under the knife at 12:30 tommorrow. Procedure he had done last month he quit breathing 3 times, so I am stressing now. He seemed to be calm yesterday on our ride, the only time the two of us have ever ridden together on seperate bikes, and that may have been the reason. But today he was puttin down some cigars, so I reckon it has become reality fo him. I felt the same way when I had my transplant(yea you could write a medical journal about our family). Pretty easy to deal with until they start sticking the IV's in ya. Thanks for listening, update later. JIM |

Everything was great,he did really well, with exception to his catheter afterwards. But that is minor stuff comparatively. Decided to stay an extra day so I can go up and see him before I leave. So stoked I am gonna celebrate on the way home and hit the Dragon, never done it, and the weather has been perfect, somebody is smiling on us! Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers, just plain good folks hang around these parts don't they? JIM |

Good deal Jim; glad to hear it. A lot of us have been down that road more than once. Have fun at the Dragon, and be careful not to re-earn your former short-lived nickname (which shall not be mentioned...). |

Jim, you guessed right. Finally got it roofed last weekend, and rolled the bikes in a couple of nights ago. Still have to paint, wire, and insulate it before winter sets in. It turned out pretty nice. Take care, Mike |

Made it safely home at about 11:00 pm saturday night. Dad was released from the hospital this morning. DOC said he was doing excellent for someone who had went through out the same kind of surgery. Over 2700 miles on the bike when I pulled into the drive. Spent alot of time up in the mountains "playing" yesterday. Met some really nice folks from ADV-rider, at the gap. Back was loaded down pretty good, so I couldn't run the bike as well as she was huffing to. Killboy was there as usual, but that is for another thread. Thanks again to all of you! JIM Glitch, what can we do about a room. I know we got lucky last time, just want to be prepared this time aroud. |
