Thinking of taking a ride tomorrow up to the Buell dealer in Frederick MD and them maybe Gettysburgh PA. Does anyone know if these are particularly Buell-friendly, neutral, or second-class citizen status. Leaving from Bethesda. Thanks Don |

If your looking for parts for Buells, most likely they would have to order the parts. The Frederick store might have one or two on the showroom floor and a tiny Buell accessory area. The Gettysburgh store has had more Buell cycles on the showroom floor and then they had a decent sized rack dedicated to accessories. Decent as far as Buell accessories goes. It's been some time since I've gone in either though. Report back on your adventures and let us know how well they are doing in the Buell area. |

Took the ride to these two dealers today. 1. Frederick, MD. First, to be fair, they are in the middle of major construction project. Ought to be a truly beautiful facility when it's done. Right now they are using one small corner of the building to keep open. Outside - one Firebolt (I think) and an orange Uly. DIdn't find much Buell inside - just a few helmets, all size small. Didn't talk to anyone there so I don't know what they plan to do when they get all their space back. 2. Battlefield HD-Buell, Gettysburg PA. Very Cool. Several new Buells on the floor, one black Uly. Talked to the parts guy - they had about 10 square feet of wall space for Buell parts. One package each of head bolt covers, some heel protectors, and a couple other minimal part sets. Some Buell service manuals and parts books for sale. Also some graphic decal packs (to do a whole bike) on the sale table. No decals, no patches. To their credit, the parts man seemed genuinely interested in how I liked the Uly. He listened pretty intently when I told him about the "known issues" so far - the vibrating horn, the seat rub on the rocker box cover, the "wheel rub" phenomenon. The best news, for those of us who are into apparel, is that they have a ton. Probably 10 or more varieties of dealer-imprinted tee shirts (Battlefield HD-Buell on the back)- long sleeve, short sleeve, black, yellow, blue, grey, white. Some are in the little Buell corner and others are out on the main floor. Also hoodies and crew-neck sweatshirts. Buell leather jackets and nylon riding jackets. Couple different kinds of baseball caps. Riding gloves. Several different types of Buell-imprinted garments for the ladies as well. Even had some stuff on the closeout racks. Really the more Buell stuff in one place than the last 5 shops I've been into combined. Probably the most interesting was a group of Buell Blast tee-shirts..... in size XXXL! That evokes quite an image. Very nice facility and staff all the way around, just a little hop of the Highway (Rte 15). When I hit the parking lot I started going through my little ritual of emptying out all my pockets looking for the key I always lose. Cute young lady heads out the door of the place holding something high in the air singing "How much money do I get?......How much money do I get?......" Reunited me with my key. I gotta get a couple more spares made! Now that I'm past the 500 mile break-in milestone I may go into Virginia next time |

Hooah.. Let me know when you're coming my way.. I'll take you out and run ya round a little.. I usually go to Frederick Buell for everythin and they have been pretty good to me, however, since the departure of their primary Buell Man in sales, I haven't been up to Frederick Buell in a while. From what I had heard, there was supposed to be a substantial increase in Buell area over there when they are done with the building addition. Heck, they just got their BRAG chapter back up and then the man is gone. No word on what sort of parting it was. I started a reply about VA dealers in my area.. then realized I might as well start a new thread on them, so I did. (Message edited by BluBlak on November 02, 2005) |

Anyone ever deal with Battley Cycles in the Gaithersburg/Rockville Maryland area? I stopped in last year, salesmen were somewhat knowledgeable about Buells. They have a nice showroom - it was fun to see Buells mixed in with HD, Yamaha, Ducati and BMW's. Never heard of them being mentioned here. |

Absolutely. I can recommend them. I moved from NY to Maryland in August and had my 99 X1 serviced there a couple of times. They did good work, charged me a reasonable number of hours for the jobs, and got me in weeks (literally) before I could get a service appointment in Annapolis or Fort Washington. I was impressed enough that I bought my Uly there two weeks ago. I just took it in for the first 500 mile oil change and to find the source of a "thump" from the front wheel with hard braking so I can let you know how that goes. As for their Buell knowledge - I had already done the research and already had financing when I walked on the showroom floor that day so our conversation was pretty much limited to when I could pick it up. The salesman did talk me into getting the bags and their financing department did get me a better interest rate on a loan. I didn't see many Buell parts or other Buell stuff but they are certainly no worse than any other HD franchise. I think at least one of the mechanics/technicians is a Buell rider. Like I said, I would recommend giving them a look. Where you at, johnb? |
