Is it worth joining? Been thinking about it but just hate wasting money on something I am not sure about. |

don't axe me.... i joined an independent buell owner's club, I feel it keeps things above the marketing board, so to speak... frankly, I can't think of anything brag can do for me that badweb or atc can't..... ahndful of us badwebbers and ATCers put togther a really enjoyable run last week, if we wnated to do that through brag, welllllll...i belive it would involve more politics.... |

1 free tow per year (up to $100) 1 new Atlas per year 1 pin, 1 patch FYI:BRAG & HOG are nearly identical. Membership in one gets you into events at either. HOG has more pin/patch earning opportunities (if your into that sort of thing) and the Buell is eligible. |

HOG will drive you to collecting "Village People" albums and subscribing to (gulp) "Easyriders" fagazine.... you want a patch and a pin? Dave sells them, cheaply. he*l- join ATC- they get you a cool T-shirt, membership card and 10% discount with sponsors..ATC's tongue-in-cheek board is free to all. or, don't join anything- You're already a amember of this Fine board- badweb's totally free & provides a board that'll put you in touch with unmet beulling friends at a rapid rate, AND get you some sponsorship discounts! support badweb's sponsors, and let them know where you heard about them- |

If you attend any of the events it is worth it. I took advantage of the ticket packages for Daytona and Laguna Seca this year which made the membership well-worth the price. I also enjoy having the Fuell magazine that gets sent to my door. |

Join - I get a 10% discount off my insurance for being a national club member. And I get a free atlas every year, and free roadside assistance if I need it. |

I use the discounts and having the 24 hour service/panic line is nice peace of mind when you're out of town. |

Also there is a lot of people that are not fond of computers or have no idea that this or other forums exist. What the dealer clubs do is get you involved in a local club and as the dealership sells new or used bikes the customers find out about the club. Although the BadWeb has been used to put together some very fantastic and memorable events for me and many others here. |

you want a patch and a pin? Dave sells them How much did that big patch on your jacket cost Tramp? I'm guessing they don't sell them to just anyone. HOG has pins and patches you can't buy, you have to earn them, like the mileage pins and the ABC's of Touring. I consider it an amusing addition to the other benies. Doesn't require prospecting either. |

No patch currently on my jacket.... so I have all the time in the world to organize local Buell events...expect many Earned patches and pins are pretty cool, but when earning them comes from just sending money in, well...that's called buying. It sounds like there are some nice features to brag membership- I just avoid manufacturer-sponsored clubs, but maybe I'll feel different if and when I own a New Buell (I'd love to). For now, I enjoy casual runs and meets. The run we put together last weekend, involving Badwebbers, ATCers, BRAGgarts, a HOG guy, cost nothing, and the run shirts (which look very cool, thanks to my better half) are being sold at cost. He*l- I'll gladly print up a monthly newsletter, too. I'd love to see some sort of official brag/badweb/atc collaboration on local runs, but I have far too keen an understanding of indemnity and liability diversity to broach that led zep... That's why i didn't even ask about having badweatherbikers.com printed on the run shirts...nice advertisisng as it may be, I seriously doubt badweb, as a board, wants to be associated, in print, with enabling a bunch of guys to ride at high speed on wet roads together. ATC has some indemnity in those matters...I'd really like to see badweatherbikers.com on our next run shirt, though... |

chainsaw said: " I consider it an amusing addition to the other benies. Doesn't require prospecting either." * * * * don't be too quick to knock prospecting ... Imagine you started a sportbike club, you enjoyed tear-assing around your area, and you let a couple newbies get patches after a couple weeks... then they pulled wheelies down a crowded street, or they knocked over a convenience store in their patch, or started a barfight. You want them associated with you? best to have folks 'hang around' for a while, then 'prospect' by just showing up at rides and proving they're not slob riders or hotheads. that's called earning a patch or a pin. My own feeling is that it's wisest for sportbike clubs to wear a small breast patch or pin, anything on the back, even when it's not "3-piece", can only lead to the appearance, at the most benign, of 'group mentality', which is rarely our friend, when it comes to 'new names'... Good manners and a low profile will make a riding club |

BRAG, if you use the roadside service ONCE in many years I think it would be worth it. I have this nightmare of being down in some out of the way place having to deal with a tow truck guy who knows nothing about hauling bikes who proceeds to just trash the bike. So the peace of mind is good. Also the national events are cool. Come to homecoming, in a very few years Buell wil be too big to pull of an event like this and it will be a loss. Join, come to homecoming now, tell lies to newbies ten years from now! |

You mean one of these killer "1st Annual Headless Horseman Run" shirts, Dave? Cochise put together an order of long sleeves, ($18- includes shipping to ya) I'll likely be putting together an order of the original Gildan Heavy-Duty short-sleeve we'd designed... ($14- includes shipping to ya) |

I have been to four BRAG events in the two years that I have owned my Buell and enjoyed them all. If you can make one event a year it is well worth the cost of membership! Craig |

I support them all. Brag gives us something nationally. I am a Hog member too, but do not attend their events. If you are a BRAG member, you can attend some of their events at a good cost. I have done the All California run, Home coming a number of times, Laguna Seca, Daytona, etc. So far, it has been worth it. ATC, American Sport Bike Night, SACBORG, BADWEB, etc. gives you more options. You can never have too much access to good information and resources....REX |

don't be too quick to knock prospecting ... An old roommate of mine prospected and patched for a MC club. It involved a year of being the whooping boy/gopher for any and every patch-holder. Not my idea of a good time. 15+ years later, he's still a patch-holder though. |

chainsaw said: "An old roommate of mine prospected and patched for a MC club. It involved a year of being the whooping boy/gopher for any and every patch-holder" * * * * that was no club i've ever associated with, or at least no charter... i guess it happens in some organizations, though. The local Angels run under the ethos that you're always a man, first. Taking a lot of sh*t won't impress many of them that I know of. Standing up will. a charter I hung out with in California based a prospect's worth more on his mileage and for being stand-up.... If prospects couldn't handle 20k plus miles a year, they weren't good material. Those fellas rode. I never saw anybody being used as any whooping boys or taking much sh*t from members. I think that day-to-day life is political enough, without the encumbrances of a separate conformity. That's why I'm looking forward to spending my free motorcycling time putting together really nice runs for anyone who wants to show up...maybe develop it into something slightly more organized in terms of liability insurance, Event T-shirt sales (to generate revenue for insurance), coffee tents, first aid and track days. keep the concepts of 'membership' and politics at arm's length.... hey- that's just me..... |

welll...you can send it to cochise at his address on his club's site, for a longsleeve T. I am sure that a personal check from dave s. is honoured in the cashrooms down in the basements of his club. I'm trying not to "sell" anything on this board, as I don't think that's cool, here- so please excuse my outwardly cryptic response... (Message edited by tramp on October 27, 2005) |

I have been involved with BRAG since I have own Buell, 4yrs now. I have meet some good folks via the "club" atmosphere and did attend my first BRAG event this year in MD. The event was great, and once again there were plenty of great people that I meet there. I have use the roadside asst. twice and each time they came through with flying colors. I can say that there is a big difference between a BRAG club and a HOG chapter. The Buellers just love to ride, everything else follows in its place. HOG is base on a social idea with folks who happen to own Harley's. There is definetly far less politics (if any) in a BRAG group. As far as the corporate rules of a BRAG club, I have yet to attend a meeting or ride where any of them where an issue. |
