I've decided that I have to go no matter what so the wife (Naughty Nurse) and I are probably going to purchase our tickets for the Flight soon. What I need is some suggestions from you guys that are familiar with the track and the area for a place to stay for that weekend. If I can possibly get some info from Peggy at BRAG whether or not the'll be involved or not would be of some help regarding tickets but for right now a for sure place to stay is top priority. Somewhere close would be awesome. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dana (Message edited by bads1 on October 22, 2005) |

I've lived in the monterey bay area off and on for years... If you make the reservations in advance, stay at the carmel river inn on rt. 1. otheriwse, the holiday inn express in seaside (about 50 yds. from the monterey city border) is the move... seaside tends to be less expensive than monterey by and large. the one beachfront motel in the area is the best western, nice place, not too pricey...otherwise, there's avast strip of motel in monterey off of abrego, too many to list. someone had posted last summer that they did fine in salinas, a city whose crankcase population has fostered an enormous crime problem. If you're a crip or a vato, you'll be fine, though... (whoops- that emoticon's evidently a blood, ahhhhh, well- tamayta/tamahta) |

I'm camping! Love shack! If they'll have me! So that's a BIG if. Overlooking Rainey Curve (Turn 9) with views of the Cork Screw. If not there, then atop Fox Hill.

Dana, Even with all the real estate concerns we had last year, we had space for all the badwebbers that wanted to camp there. And we didn't even need to resort to folks sleeping under the love shack. Same rules apply, as long as all the SCAB folks that pitch in all year long for the spots have a place to park their bike and pitch their tent, your welcome to camp at the SCAB spot. Al |

There are showers both in the campground area and down in the paddock. So if you get paddock access, supposedly you can shower with the racers. LOL. |

Although I don't share Blake's sexual preference, I do admire his courage for acknowledging his unabashed desire for showering with the racers and sharing his intimate knowledge of Valentino's back scrubbing. I suspect it's an interesting but disturbing lifestyle. |

Dana, don't fly out; ride there. The trip will be a great time for the two of you, and you'll have stories and memories that will really enhance the experience. Besides, it will really suck to be at Laguna Seca without a bike. Twice a year, I load the car with my wife and two kids and drive to Illinois to see the Springfield Mile. I haven't taken my bike since 2000; and every time, I feel like I'm missing a big part of the overall experience. One of my best times in years was this past August, when My wife and I rode out to Colorado on out bikes. We talk about it a lot, and when we do, it's not just about Colorado, we talk about incidents along the way, things we saw and people we met. Make it a bigger adventure; it'll be worth it. |

Crusty sorry bud. I love the XB but never to take a trip like that on it. The Mrs. and I are making a weekend out of it. That way we can do Daytona and then Deals Gap. I'm not sure we'll do all three but Laguna is a must. |

Through choicehotels.com, Comfort Inn in Watsonville for $249.50 a night. A web search seems to indicate rooms in the area are going fast for that weekend. |

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and advice. The wife and I have a hotel to stay within a real reasonable distance of the Speedway. I'll have that booked tomorrow and will be flying out so I'm going to sit back I think and find the best deal within the next 2-3 weeks. Thanks Blake hope to see ya out there. I hope see alot of the folks here off the BadWeb there. As the time draws nearer to the race next year maybe we can all hook up and have a get together of some sort. Thanks again Dana |
