Okay, the Glock model 21, now I got it. I'm a dinosaur on guns. I have about 30 hand guns and don't own anything very new. And the plastic pistols? With the trigger safeties and that stuff? Not for me. I like the older ones. The military switching from the M1911A1 to the Beretta 9mm was a good thing only because people shot themselves by accident less often. And it hurt less when they did. That is one of the least effective handgun cartridges in the world. Did you know that the 9mm Luger cartridge is older than the .45 ACP? Jack |

I can't stand the Beretta 9, I'd like to have the confidence of patroling around knowing I was packing something with a little more reliability and punch. I clean the crap outta mine and so does everyone else I know, but every time we pop off some rounds at the range it jams or feeds up and blocks the slide. In my opinion it's a very weak handgun. A SSG in my platoon was cleaning his outside our tent about a year ago, with the mag still loaded, and popped a round through the tent and into a cot the was laying 5 feet from where we were doing 249 drills. He was later demoted for being an idiot and leaving the mag in, but the inquiry found 3 witnesses who said the guy never pulled the trigger!! I heard some news recently that there's enough complaints from soldiers, mostly in the sandbox, that the Army's going with Glock 45's starting sometime next year...no complaints here... |

Thanks for the good news. ..."I heard some news recently that there's enough complaints from soldiers, mostly in the sandbox, that the Army's going with Glock 45's starting sometime next year..." ...if true, there could be an opportunity to pick up a nice Beretta for reasonable $$! My favorite 9mm is the CZ75. Out shoots 'em all. |

Funny, in almost 7 years, I have on ly had one 9mm beretta with an issue..it woudl stove-pipe every 10th round or so, and more frequent.ly as it got hotter.... Other than that, it seems pretty idiot proof. After seeing some people shoot(I am an RSO), I think anythign bigger than a 9mm for alot of people is dangerous.... Chase} |

The reason most departments switched from the 9mm to the .40cal. was a simple matter of power and penatration. I've seen video of guys getting hit with multiple rounds of 9mm and just getting pissed-off; video of 9mm rounds bouncing off windshields. NO THANK YOU These videos and accounts are the reason the FBI first developed the 10mm round; the round that was later shortened to the .40. |

Funny, in almost 7 years, I have only had one 9mm beretta with an issue..it woudl stove-pipe every 10th round or so, and more frequent.ly as it got hotter.... That's why I threw in that savemyass disclaimer "in my opinion". I'm gonna tie this to the reason BadWeb exists, bikes, specifically a certain brand of bike. There are some who have had experiences with Buells, mechanical or otherwise, that lead them to believe there are better ways to go. And then there are those who have gone through 5 Buells and had very few, if any, problems with 'em and will swear on their life that Buells are the best. Who's wrong and who's right? My experiences with the Beretta 9 are pretty poor and I continue to believe it's far from being the best, but if it works for you and you've had great times with one, stick with it! I agree that 45's should stay with experienced firers, who are fully aware of the repercussions a gun can have on your life if misused. Range experiences have scared me too (i.e. Security Guard pickin' his nose with one...TRUE!!...RSO tackled him at the legs). But to continue on that point, if someone isn't capable of properly using a firearm, and understanding it's consequences, they shouldn't be around ANY handguns, whether it be a 9 mil or a 45. There are some fairly reliable nines that would make, or are, good law enforcement weapons. But I also agree with Seth, that when it comes to taking someone down, with the minimum amount of time and rounds, that a 40 cal or a 45 is my preferred choice... As far as bikes go..... BUELL'S...get some!! Wade "FB2" Haughton |

I wasnt trying to imply anything.... Again, for my personal weapon, I will take my .45 The navy, and as of right now, all otehr services, carry teh 92SF. I have heard horror stories..and maybe its becuase I keep my weapons in as near perfect condition as possible,...I dunno... Like I said, personally I havent had any issues with it... As far as people handling a weapon that shouldnt.. well, it's not my call..its my job to train them, and make them profeicient(if possible), and believe me, there have been a few people taken down... "what we've got here, is failure to communicate" So, my bad, I was just making a comment... Chase |

Cool beans Chase... I wasn't trying to go anywhere with it either, I might have been a little long in my rationale for why I think the way I do, but there was a reason. I've seen some posts lately that, while good intentioned at first, have exploded into free-for-all insult throwing and people-bashing...over something as small as whether or not James Dean was cool. So I'm a little more cautious in what I say, and a little more wordy when I explain an opinion...and that's just so people know what I say is an opinion, and nothing more. I think the last 4-5 posts on this thread are a good example of the way a discussion is supposed to be, people making legitimate points and using their personal experiences to back 'em up. You sound like a good man with good experiences...AND you like Buells, so you're alright! Maybe someday we'll meet up on the road... Wade "FB2" Haughton |

We carried 9 mm Parabellum Sig Sauer P210, a.k.a. Neuhausen pistols while I was serving with the MPs. Worked well; never saw a mechanical problem on the range. Dang near broke the MP school combat shooting record with one as well. Fun stuff. Henrik |
