Jdad...Good advice for the son there and dont feel guilty at all from what I encounter here the pre teen to about 16 y/o kids are actually the most violent. The one thing to take a look at is how these people (kids and their parents) act by themselves. Most likely quiet and seemingly withdrawn, get them in a group and there F-ing superman. When dealing with the cops make sure they have the brains to handle it in a way that doesnt come back to you or your son as it could make the situation worse. And I dont think your on a rant you have a very valid concern there. |

What do you know about the parents of the perpetrators? Cops? Politically prominent? Attorneys? Judge in the family? Communication between the families and the prosecutor? Find out NOW before the prosecutor "accepts a plea to a lesser charge to avoid a trial" and the little bastards get probation, and their records are sealed. |

Am thankful that your nephew is recovering well. Returning from the equipment rental store in Longview today, lawn aerator (torture machine from hell) in tow, coming back into Kilgore I noticed a big new billboard advertising Karate instruction. I've always wanted to learn Karate. Luckily, I've never been in a circumstance like your nephew was forced to endure where I had to fend for my very life. But if I had or per chance ever do, having some martial arts skills would surely come in handy. I sure do like Court's suggestion for getting the media involved. Get O'Reilly on the story. |

What's with all this hating on myspace? I'm 19 and I get on there every couple days, it helps me keep in touch with friends and stuff easily, and it's also good for planning stuff because it's really hard to lose the info. Be realistic about where problems come from, it's not a website. Definitely not 'gang related' either. |

I'm 19 <-----my point ...not for young teens. } myspace.com is not the reason the attack happened, your 100% right...but 12yr + are on this sight playing adults..and trust me , wanna be " gang members" do post on there more than you may be aware of... YOUR 19...I KNOW 90% OF MY DAUGHTERS H.S. IS ON THERE...i would bet they are much younger than 19. JT |

I have a nephew who is 18 and is on myspace. I checked it out with him and I think it's a cool site (FOR YOUR OLDER TEENS WHO ARE BECOMING YOUNG ADULTS). I'm 31 by the way. Lots of peeps in there flirting! It is a cool site for teens meeting other teens. Myspace is not the place for I'd say 13-16 y.o. kids!!! |

I have to say, I've never seen any gang type stuff on there, but I don't keep with those kind of people so I guess I wouldn't. I can see how younger kids would want to get on there and flirt and such, but if they really want to, they'll do it, whether it's through notes at school or whatever. At least on myspace you can monitor it and they'll never know. |

Burnmyheartdown, very true. It may be wrong to some of you, but I was able to pull up the pages he viewed through the history and check it out... When it comes to my nephew (like a son to me) I take no chances. |
