They can put you in jail for pigeonholing can't they? At the very least I find it distasteful. Think of the poor pigeon for God's sake. |

they attract the pigeons with the corn, then they grab 'em.... they'll use either one...at least the corn has no feelings... |

From discussing BMWs vs. Buells to Pigeons and corn; this thread sure took a twisted drift.(Although owning one of those Teutonic Turds is akin to being ... ah, never mind!) |

returning to the title post: MCN has once again been furnished with a Buell test bike that is in poor tune, this particular Ulysses only stirring the dyno to 82 corrected Horsepower. They loved the bike, and were able to make a very impressive 60 miles per gallon, a figure only beaten by the 250 cc rebel. just kind of too bad they got a slow one. |

Yeah, there was mention of it's having exhaust gaskets restricting the exhaust flow which robbed hp. Claimed to have fixed it and sourced an additional 2hp/cylinder. Sounds fishy to me. |

MCN killed the dyno test at 6,600 rpm. Or at least they didn't print the data above that point. Sorry sorry journalism. |

Ummn, Blake, with that torque curve did you think they were gonna pick up 8hp in 200 rpm? You're a clever lad: Do the math. FWIW,Cycle World DID take the dyno run to 6800rpm. They found 83hp. There's a pattern here somewhere.... |

In the november 2003 issue of MCN they dyno'd an '04 XB12S at 85.4 hp and in the november 1999 issue they got 84.4 hp out of a 2000 X-1. In that issue they mentioned they rode an X-1 with the race kit installed and picked up 18 lb.ft. over stock (no mention of HP) that "transforms the X-1's engine into a true giant killer. Just be careful of 2nd gear wheelies at 60 mph!" I would like to see them test a Buell with an honest 90-95hp. I bet they would really like it.................... |

Fellers, Dynos are all so variable. We all know that. They are like usuing an innacurate scale. They'll never tell you how much you really weigh, but they'll let you know if you gained or lost. |

I was just thinking that another 200 rpm would have likely have yielded 3 to 4 more HP in my estimation. As you mentioned, the pre-production CW bike was reported to suffer from a mal-installed header gasket. |
