I would have to recommend Iron Horse Lodge. Stayed there this last Aug. and have to say it was a great experience. |

I'm afraid Fontana Village pricing is in line with many other much nicer options in the area. Went there a few years ago, and was not at all happy with the accommodations - especially after we discovered Tapoco Lodge which has nice little cabins, breakfast included and nice home cooking dinners on site and at about the same rate as Fontana. Just a heads up. Henrik |

Iron Horse/ Here's a link to Iron Horse. They have home cooked meals as well for a very reasonable price. Their prime rib they served for dinner one night was sooooooooooooo good. |

Grnd, that kinda defeats the purpose of going there IMO. I go there to ride. Might as well stay at a place made exclusively for bikes. |

Two wheels Inn seems to be a new place in Robbinsville... Just saw it. DAve |

If you want to stay in a regular motel/hotel, try the Microtel in Robbinsville, NC. They have very good rates and give another 10% off if you ride in on a bike. 18 miles south of the Dragon. And great people to boot, with a good selection of Dragon videos in the meeting room to watch at your leisure. |

I vote for IronHorse also. I stayed there in the bunkhouse, I think it was $15.00 per night. Very nice place, very nice people. I doubt I could stay anyplace cheaper or nicer. |

I'll also vouch for the Microtel. Clean, fairly new, motorcycle-friendly. Within walking distance of several restaurants and a grocery store. Sells "Tail of the Dragon" merchandise in the lobby (T-shirts, videos, stickers, etc.). |

To further DAve's info http://www.twowheelinn.com/ GPS COORDINATES: N 35 degrees 17.559 minutes W 83 degrees 46.865 minutes I haven't been to the place, but you get garage space with some of the rooms, rates look reasonable |

Hey Matt good to hear from you. I was at the Dragon last week on my Tiger. The Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort has no frills accomodations, decent value and now they have a grill that serves the basics. Always a motorcycle atmosphere and folks very friendly. DAve |

DAve, haven't been down that way since running the ridge last year. I'm hoping to get back in 06, maybe Brag will do an event there. The tiger's gotta be a handful in those turns. I could barely touch the ground when I test rode one in Ohio. |

Stayed at the "Mountain Stream Home" listed in Cabins to Rent this June. Plenty of room for 5 of us, 3 or 4 miles south of the Two Wheel Inn. If it's just you one of the hotels is probably cheaper. If you want a place to hang out and be able to cook, this is worth checking out. A discriminating buddy described it as "exceeding all expectations". PM me if you want more info. |

I stayed at the twowheel inn and thought it was a cool little place. Small room, but the motorcycle garage large enough for my bike and my dad's electraglide made up for it. Nice people run it also. |
