Dude, you saved my weekend. My 2000 S3 blew the ignition fuse as I was cruising down the highway ~70 miles into a 270 mile trip yesterday. Luckily I had some spares, but despite all my looking I couldn't find an obvious short anywhere. After probing and pulling every wire on the bike and blowing 2 more fuses, the third fuse worked, and I rode the rest of the trip without incident. But here I am, ~270 miles from home, I'd really like to ride some here, plus I have the long trip back to face with a potential electrical problem. Did a quick search on Badweb this AM for "S3 ignition fuse" and quickly found your posts about your problem last year. I went outside, and in ~10 seconds found a couple of wires had rubbed through over the rear cylinder head. I taped them up, and I'm pretty sure the problem is permanently cured. Is this a great website, or what? |

Who is Rmckennon? The reason I am curious... might be a relative of mine and I'd like to contact him if possible. I did the same search and didn't find a user with that name? |

Eor, here's the link to his profile: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=view_prof ile&profile=rmckennon-users Doesn't look like he posted much besides the thread that helped me. Perhaps he changed his handle? |
