quote:

It all started at Fridays track day.... it felt like someone was pouring progressively courser and courser sand into the engine. It never shook or made "bad" noises, but I could feel more than the usual vibration in the handle bars (which is usually about zero), and the engine justed seemed to be louder than normal. As the day went on, it got worse and worse.

Performance didnt SEEM to fall off. But then again, it may have. It wasnt enough so that I could tell if I was imagining it, or not. But it seemed to.

Anyway... brought it back into the pits at the end of the day, and it sounded bad. Could feel a definite grindy/shakey feel in the handle bars. So I shut it down. Walked away....

Came back later, fired it up, and it was allll gone. Hmmmm....

Well, I'm not going to chance it. Dont want to be leaned over in 5th gear, wondering when/if my engine is goign to sieze.

Found the above posted on another forum. I only post it because it might be a valuable data point for anyone thinking about purchasing a Suzuki repliracer. The bike involved was a 2000 GSXR750 and required a new engine.

Y'know what, that can happen to anyone with any machine, whoever builds it. Run it near the edge and things can happen. Doesn't keep me from pushing mine to the edge mind you, but if it goes "pop", I know better than to get upset.

Ayden,

I agree 100% with you, but if we were to believe the conventional wisdom spewed forth by Buell naysayers, all Japanese repliracers are absolutely bulletproof no matter how hard they are run. I guess that is my reason for posting the information.
