Road_thing, That is a sweet shovel. I'm currently building up my mechanic skills (on '03 Road Glide and maybe the '06 XB12X), so one day I can find a old Knucklehead to rebuild. No reason for the Knuckle other than I like the look of the rocker covers :-). Well maybe just to test my skills some too. Cheers |

dang, thang, Dang! 2HOGS- The knuck is the threshhold model for Harley davidson, the departure from flatheadedness which allowed HD to surpass Injun in sales and, ultimately, in survival. darwin one injun zero |

There's more to a 'knuck than just the rocker covers. |

I like flatheads too, side valve ed ness and all. Just missed on getting a ULH prior to departing Cali. For some reason the then owner just didn't want to trade for my pickup truck with the soon to be bad main bearing. The bearing lasted for two more cross country trips before it finally had enough, gotta luv them old straight six's. Hmmm, I seem to have lost track of what this thread is about, think I'll just go home now. bye. |

"I just don't get why he's almost off the bike by pic 3- why's his left leg up in the wir as opposed to on his left peg?" I think he got onto that right crash bar and that lifted or unloaded the front wheel enough that it slid or hopped to the left as he was starting down in a lowside to the right. As his weight was coming off the saddle, that, or a CG change, or the crash bar again, started the bike rolling to the left and the saddle was going out from under him. As his weight came off, the front end dropped down, got some bite on the asphalt, and that started the bike up and to the left and finalized his occupancy of the saddle. It probably finished with the bike highsiding which would mean he got off at a good time and on the "soft" side. In that first photos he was giving the camera the Aggie "Hook 'em Horns" sign. Or, if he was Italian, the "someone is screwing your wife sign". I looked for the video or full series of shots but conldn't seem to find them. Jack |

Yep, if memory serves knuckles were the first ohv harley engines. Yea, they are a departure from the old flatheads. To me they are the best looking Harley engines. For me, owning one as a third or forth bike, it's the looks that count. |

Looking at a big pic of #2, it looks like he locked up the front. http://www.geocities.com/leonardba/harleycruiser2.jpg |

Judging from the way he was dressed, he was obviously prepared for a spirited ride on curvy roads. |

90% of cruiser riders I see dress that way...even some that've crashed before and still haven't learned the lesson. |
