I just bought this lift from Harbor Freight. It is very nice for the price! I posted it here because it's a sale price so Quick Board seemed best. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=91764 |

Well, speaking as someone who uses a motorcycle lift on a regular basis, I would say the tire mount does not look very trust worthy. I would deffinately be strapping that bike down well before doing any work at all on it! The price looks very affordable. I still wouldn't drive a full dresser up on it. Is there any type of locking system for the hight on the ramp once the bike is jacked up? |

i have one of those lifts and I would put a dresser on it , there is a heavy steel bar for a safety when the bike is up, the tire vise is not that good and I would aways tie a bike to a lift no matter what. |

That looks very similar to one sold in the UK by Machine Mart - called the Clarke Strong Arm, I had one on loan to rebuild my S1W on and it's a cracking piece of kit. The locking pin can be placed in two positions, full height or halfway. There's a safety valve that prevents lift if the weight is too much. It stands well on uneven surfaces by using the screw down feet at the front end. Overall it's a very stable lift even if your bike is sat on its side stand and placed more over to one side. In fact it's stable enough to climb up on from a side and it will not tilt or tip over. The price is ridiculously silly. You couldn't build one for anywhere near as cheap as they sell 'em. Before I returned the one I borrowed I gave it a full service also removing the pin out of the ram to clean it and check the seal. I replenished the oil, bled the ram etc and I was very impressed by the overall build quality in every aspect . Rocket |
