I was unable to tune the tfi, bike kept coughing and backfiring. I took it off, and installed the power commander with high performance o2 sensor. Today I went to an official Dynojet tuning center to get it tuned in. When the guy tries to get his O2 sensor in the exhaust, we hear a rattling noise and he's unable to get the sensor all the way up the exhaust. As a result, the O2 readings are off. But, he asures me, that shouldn't spoil the fun. Well, until it turns out he can't get it tuned. It keeps coughing and backfiring and it's just running very rough. I'm on an extremely tight budget, I asured my wife that this tune up was the last expense ... and now this! I'm so sick of this ... A hundred bucks for half a day on the dyno and it still runs like crap! A very, very lousy day that I want to forget about as quickly as possible. |

Might need to pull the exhaust and inspect.? shouldn't be any rattling in the exhaust. |

Just a rant Tramp. You don't get it? Something broke, I'm pissed, a $hitty day. That's all. |

Ing, have you thought about getting the race ECM if you haven't already? |

I had the race ecm. That's not the problem. Something in the exhaust came loose. |

Oh, not good. Well, you said you replaced the O2 sensor, possible it's that? Otherwise, check the bolts that hold the header to the head. |

thats why I pulled the bullshit fuel injection and ECU off of my X1. Now I just have to deal with pulling the choke, adjusting jets, and riding the bike. No more chasing sensors or paying for TPS resets. |

Ingemar, sleep on it and keep going, it'll get better. At least that's what I keep telling myself and one of these days I'm going to belive it... Sometimes when I get frustrated with something mechanical I just leave it alone until the next day, makes it easier to work on most of the time... Kevin |

I don't know if I'm the first, but the Drummer is shot. I took it off today and it sounds like a musical instrument. I don't think there's any packing in it and whatever else is in there is loose. Kevin, did you get my mail? I'm wondering what my options are of getting it fixed. I put the stock can back and it's running much better, still sputtering and sneezing, but not nearly as much as it used to. |

Intake Leak Maybe with the Bad Drummer??? Check the intake seals on the heads, with the engine running spray WD40 or similar around the seals, if the idle changes then thats a problem. |

Ingemar - I feel your pain. I believe you may be the first of 180 or so to have a broken Drummer (other than self inflicted). If something has broken in the Drummer, I'm sure Kevin will make it right. |

Newfie, I checked for intake leaks but I can't find them. Jerseyguy, I'm sure we can work something out. Now if he would just read his mail and respond . |

Ingemar, I just recieved your mail this morning...I check it all the time....today is the first thing I've gotten from you .....check your e-mail and I'll take care of it.....if you need the Drummer powercommander map you need to let me know...I have it and would be glad to let you have it to install.....you shouldn't need any fuel changes with the race ecm on the 9...sounds like something else is going wrong... Thanks Kevin. Just replied. Btw, don't take the title of my post personal. It's not an attack at you or the Drummer. I hadn't mentioned it but several things broke down this weekend, including a brand new DVD player. I was just fed up with things braking down and wanted to rant. Have the form on your website checked out. I used that at first to send you a mail. Appearantly these mails end up in the wrong mailbox. |

I am sick of it too. My '02 S3T header broke half into, so I found a Buell race kit. Six months later that header cracked, so I bought a Force system. Now it is very very loud, so loud that it gives me a headache even with earplugs. The bike stumbles and runs very rough below 3,000 rpm. I have had it back to the shop (HD dealer) twice. The bike has the complete race kit. |

Daddy, are you using the new updated front exhaust mount? The upside down Y one? Can't remember if they were stock on the 02's or not. |

from above "thats why I pulled the bullshit fuel injection and ECU off of my X1." xb guys IIRC the throttle body points straight up like a down draft carb right?, seems like that would difficult to carb, and the frame (gas tank) is in the way, for a conventinal carb wonder how fuel would feed to the carb? hope you can get the issue sorted out though (Message edited by oldog on September 21, 2005) |
